One of the companies that went bust on me and took my company for £29k owed HMRC a total of £1.4 million. How the hell can that happen. Within a week the directors of that company were trading again in the same industry under a different name. Makes my blood boil when I see it happen. 🤬 If you owe the bank £1000, that's your problem. If you owe them £1m, that's their problem. Or something to that effect. If you owe the bank £1m you can bet it’s secured against something and the bank will be a secured creditor against your assets. The bank got their money back in my case, but nobody else did though, quite unbelievable out a list of 400 plus companies owed money and a total of £4.5m worth of unsecured creditors.

It’s an impressive list of creditors. I’m surprised the directors still have kneecaps.
Won’t do your blood pressure much good to see the balance sheet of their current company….

I’m surprised they still do too and yes it still annoys me about ten years later, they upset a lot of people in the industry. I’m guessing you’ve also had a look at companies house then ? A clearer case for action needed against directors you would struggle to find. Nothing happened though,it’s wrong.

You bank with them if you owe £1000. They bank with you if you owe £1m.

so had the challenge been successful and Sheffield gone on to win the game, could Clan then challenge retrospectively that the original challenge was not legal, and asked for a replay of the game, from the last minute onwards ! (remembering didn't Sheffield not have to play the last 10 minutes of a game in Bracknell once due to ice issues ?)

This is I’m afraid, amateur hour. The use of and rules on “Coach’s challenge” should be clearly communicated to all concerned, especially coaches and refs long before competitive games even start being played.

Only way they could have been brought to account.

Presumably if it had been successful they would've had to see the puck did actually cross the line, so Sheffield would at least have scored the goal. But yes it's always worrying when the refs don't know the rules, or are able to be bullied into decisions by a wobbler with an iPad.

This was however a guy charging his services as an insolvency partner of a big firm out at well over £400 an hour. They live in a different world. As long as they draw their massive secured cut of the remaining assets which they always do they couldn’t care less.

Obviously with only 3 seconds on the clock it is inconsequential, but had they done it with more time on the clock, it would have been an even worse decision to allow the challenge. Although I have to add, having finally seen some footage of it, it seems the refs call the play dead before the puck crosses the line. If you see the still image Sheffield picked to show it being over, the ref is already blowing play dead. Plus there is some pretty clear contact with the goalie in the crease, so I think no-goal was still right anyway.

Last time I checked, the liquidators fees for Robin Hood Energy were well over £1m…

It's challenge cup, but Devils are 4-0 down after 20 mins!
Also, Dundee Stars are currently winning in Coventry. If they hold on they'll actually go top, albeit having played significantly more games then Steelers.

Current live EIHL table has Dundee top and Giants 9th… A change after the first periods. All away teams getting the first goals but falling behind at this stage.

How they justify that is unthinkable.

There's an interesting possible scenario in the final CC game of Steelers v Storm on Wednesday, according to a Jonathan Fearnley post on X
Apparently either storm or Dundee will go through in last spot. And the main thing that separates them is goal difference. The storm neev to score 2 goals. Doesn't matter if the win or lose.
So in theory they could start with 6 forwards on the ice to get those 2 goals and concede 10 to go through! This could be a comedy hockey game.

Is that the 3rd son-of-a-former-player we have in the league this season? Neilson, Craighead, Pound?

The storm qualified without a farce by losing to Sheffield 4-2 last night. A goal in each of the first 2 periods avoided any need to get silly. The farce of the cup continues though with the QF draw which sees Manchester drawn against.... yes, Sheffield.

Also don't forget Morgan Clarke-Pizzo (Or perhaps you only meant "new to the league" players?)
