There’s no confirmation that Puffer has left for good is there? Just that he has returned home for now

Elite prospect seems to say he’s gone!

There’s no confirmation that Puffer has left for good is there? Just that he has returned home for now The wording of the article title "ROSTER UPDATE: BRETT WELYCHKA AND CRAIG PUFFER" and "returned to North America" -rather than "headed home" - makes it sound permanent. If Puffer isn't a permanent departure then the wording of the article and title are definitely working against them.

Well best wishes to Craig Puffer and family.
Would be useful if the Panthers could be more explicit in whether this is compassionate leave, or permanently left. Just so we know.
Can't blame Welychka, we're going nowhere and he's been one of the few bright sparks this year.

So our top goal scorer and leading shot blocker 🤦🏾‍♂️ What next??? Welychka will obviously be a big miss, but Craig has been an effective defensive forward like you point out, very under appreciated in that regard. Like a lot of our forwards he just hasn’t found any rhythm offensively. Hopefully his family situation isn’t too serious

The other arena teams are strengthening their squads, and we get rid of our top goal scorer. The story of the Nottingham Panthers right there

Craig threw himself in front of any shot, willing to take one for the team every time, so only fair we take one for him now in return. His commitment could never be faulted. Yes, one occasion when open wording helps noone. Best of luck to him and his family.

All the best to Puffer, I hope it works out. As has been said, he's not quite found his mojo here, but that doesn't matter in these circumstances now.

Hopefully sometime over the next twenty years the Panthers "management" will adopt a policy change and give supporters a clear, honest and precise up-date on all team/player related issues. Transparency and truth are words that are currently missing from Panthers vocabulary.

Welychka to Dresdner Eislöwen, currently second in DEL2. Landed there Monday evening and has already done some training sessions. Dresden had had their eye on him last year when he was in Slovakia.

FWIW, Puffer is still on the roster page (Welychka has been removed), so I would assume they're thinking he may return if this issue can be sorted.
Quite why they can't just say that...

Panthers have replied to somone on the player of the month tweet that Puffer has no timescale on his return. Sounds like the door is open and it's down to him and his situation. Don't think they can do more to be honest.

A difficult and complicated situation, if we have cancelled his contract I’m assuming there would be no issue re-offering him his contract after the transfer deadline on 15th Feb? As it’s not technically a transfer

So although in difficult and understandable circumstances basically Puffer has left the club,in which case and bearing in mind timescale Panthers should be replacing him. If they’re actually tweeting that he’s left then that article from yesterday was at best ambiguous and at worst dishonest.

As it’s not technically a transfer Who knows? Why not just put him on compassionate leave and let him go home, then he'd still be under contract wouldn't he? Seems overly complicated, but I don't know the details of course.

As pointed out yesterday and "liked" by you it was argued that the article gave the distinct impression that he had left permanently. Hence it's inclusion as a Roster Update. You seemed to agree with the idea that he had left permanently but that the wording wasn't perhaps the best in making that clear. Today the wording has become potentially dishonest?? So they worded it poorly and have cleared up the problem openly and publicly on Twitter. That's a big culture change. Surely that's what you wanted?

Yes they’ve complicated it, probably because they didn’t want to admit to two players leaving knowing that would prompt replacement questions so they wrote an ambiguous article. Hope for the guy he does come back, but realistically at this stage of the season and with the position the club is in the chances would appear slim.

Seems overly complicated, but I don't know the details of course. Maybe to free up the roster space in case they could get anyone in? And guess if he's still on contract then technically he's still entitled to his wages for a situation that may be open-ended at this stage But we're all just guessing in the dark. Right now just sending best wishes to Puffer and his family. And guessing, as others have said, that of he was able to come back it wouldn't be a transfer so the door is open. A situation that benefits both parties for now perhaps

View AttachmentYes I didn’t believe the article yesterday that left it somewhat open to interpretation and then I see their tweet a few minutes ago that they confirm he’s left. They should have made it perfectly clear yesterday if he’d left not try to fudge it.
