GG is also one of the very few (by his own admission) coaches who never actually played hockey himself. Maybe some players find that hard to work with ? This is completely irrelevant. What matters is that he coached at a good level with plenty of experience. It would just be a poor excuse for the players It's not irrelevant if he's always been a great leader but relied on people with hockey experience to do the technical coaching. A hell of a lot of succesful leaders, sports or otherwise have often had little technical knowledge but know how to build a great support group to help them deliver their vision.

Which is why he might need an assistant I agree he should have one. But to offer a different opinion or view, not to cover up any of GG’s possible shortcomings.

Clan's turn to issue a statement today on their "disastrous start" (their words). Thing is, they have a Belfast double weekend ahead, I can't see any corners being turned there...
Coventry have also issued a 'statement' in jest, celebrating that they're top of the league haha

Clan, like Panthers, have a really loyal and enthusiastic fan base. Just a pity that they have never really fulfilled all their promise. Reasons ? - ownership, coaching or playing staff shortfalls ? Take your pick. Maybe some regular Clan fans would like to offer their opinions and enlighten us.

Take your pick. Maybe some regular Clan fans would like to offer their opinions and enlighten us. The simple way to put it is it's much the same that's went on for years with the Panthers. Transparently just doing the absolute minimum required to keep turning things over. Talking big when it comes to the off-season for ST and sponsor renewals, then the tone changes to us "rebuilding" and "working to bigger and better things next season". Rinse and repeat. Panthers at least have a whole bunch of cups and play-off titles to show for it all, we just keep getting promised we're "challenging for silverware" and then never delivering. Club hasn't been even close to that since 2016 when we played in the CHL, may never get there again if the same old faces stay in charge. Some comedy clan quotes from the past 5 years for the lols: PR post Finnerty sacking: "It’s back to the drawing board, we can assure each and everyone of you we will be analysing where our errors were, where we need to improve with the aim of progressing the club further and competing for silverware." Source linkPR post Tripp sacking: "It has been bitterly disappointing for this organisation to finish ninth in the league, miss out on the playoffs and not retain the Gardiner Conference title. Our aspirations are for the Clan to be competing for silverware and not battling for a playoff spot." Source linkPR in September 2020: "Our target remains to win, we want to be successful, we want to bring silverware to Glasgow and it’s integral we continue to pursue that." Source linkPR post Fitzy sacking: "He’s revealed he’s already been approached by interested parties who are looking to succeed Zack Fitzgerald and wants someone who can deliver silverware to the club at last." Source linkPR May 2021 during the midst of our arena uncertainty: "We want to be one of the best clubs in the EIHL, we want to be competing every single season at the top of the EIHL, competing for major silverware every season and have the opportunity to experience European competitions like the Champions Hockey League again." Source linkWhen fans (especially the more casual ones) in addition to sponsors keep seeing these messages from the club, it's hardly a wonder they quickly drift away to elsewhere, when they see what's actually being delivered.

You can come behind us anytime because obviously WE want to win that SILVERWARE they quote several times. Because I feel for the teams that don't make it. Like you say Nottingham have taken the honours at least. As I said before, hoping Fife do better but things are much the same just now. It's as if someone owned two clubs and the hype was just the same isn't it?

Yes the Clan’s record is certainly very very poor. I think it’s eleven seasons they’ve been around now and the best they’ve achieved is one 2nd place finish, four cup and one PO semi final. Appalling really when they get pretty similar crowds to Cardiff !

Good to see Neil's teams idea sharing, although I think Gareth's made the "not my fault" a bit obvious tbh.
