Fife saw it out, goal fest to start the cup.
I was just looking at the start of the 3rd period. 40:00, 3-1 up. 49:27, 6-3 down. But you're right that they went 3-1 after half an hour.

Impressive 3+1 from Fife's Cameron, even if Driscoll looks like he was a bit game rusty for Clan from his Sv% numbers

Apparently Fife had 5 players not icing tonight due to injury 4 of them imports (2 D men & 3 forwards).
On the Face of it the clan definitely choked.

So here's hoping that indicates a much improved Fife that won't dwell in the cellar again. Not good to have continuous bottom of the pile teams like we had with Edinburgh.

8-1. Natural hat-trick in there for Sanford.
Yorks got two short-handed goals in a 4-1 win at Guildford.

Can I laugh at Cardiff yet please?
They look absolutely poo poo. Possibly as bad as we are.

Their defeat makes our current magic number for the CC group phase 9 points. However that is based on Glasgow and Cardiff winning all their remaining games in regulation so will possibly reduce further when their pay some more cup games this weekend (2 and 1 games respectively). If they both lose then the magic number will reduce to just 7 points.

Blaze netminder Paavo Holsa went down hurt in the first period as well, although Jordan Hedley was excellent in relief for him. Cardiff just didn't have nay kind of netfront presence and the powerplay was really poor.

In addition to this, the Blaze look to have their best team for years this season, potentially an even better team that the one which won the playoffs under Chuck Weber.

Just shows what a well balanced and well coached team can do as on paper the Blaze team looks bang average at best. If Panthers had put that squad together in the summer there would be uproar. On the ice though Blaze are looking the real deal and sweeping everyone aside at the moment

Coventry last night looked excellent didn't have any weak links even Norrish looked good

Blaze will be handy at home based on last night.. I can certainly see them getting the better of Sheffield

Back to the drawing board, then...

I've been impressed with Billings and Quince everytime I see them. Tbh I've not see a bad oerfor from any of their forwards.

Belfast in the CHL gave the Swedish team all they could handle last night, actually quite an entertaining game.
Didn't seem too many fans there, which was a shame but I do think that 1900 Face Offs (Not Belfast's fault I know) aren't helping.
I did remember it being a bit tight getting to The Arena from work, when it was The Panthers
