Flames have had a shorter preseason, but won both their warmup games with Manchester this weekend.
Hopefully we can get Hammond and Sorenson back, and our extra prep counts.

Hopefully with this being the first real game everything will drop into place and our forwards will score a hatful of goals. Panthers 5-2

Simples . . . Flames will be extinguished. Panthers to puff out their grapes with a 5-1 win.

Football matches are still going ahead in Europe tonight but I'm sure the premier league will cancel matches for the next week

I was thinking that with the death of the Queen, some thought to her reign might very well be made. But of course will cancellation be forthcoming.

I presume this would come down to official guidance, but it'd seem a bit pointless to me.

European football (eg Man U) went ahead on police advice, presumably as fans had travelled and to avoid unnecessary confrontation. Sports on the day of the funeral, normally 10 days after the passing, will be rearranged. This weekend is at risk. Probably the minor sports are waiting for the major ones (Football, Rugby etc) to set the tone. If EFL and Premier League cancel then you can bet EIHL will follow.

There won't be any football this weekend. The EFL already cancelled Friday nights game. The prem league will make a statement Friday.
Hockey etc will do what they normally do and be the sheep and follow what other sports do

Apparently DCMS are suggesting no sport at all this weekend, or on the day of her funeral, but that it'll be up to the individual bodies to decide.
Elite League might want to get on with it, Glasgow and Fife face-off in 8 hours.

Given the winter world cup, a weekend off now is bad news for the Premier League. Perhaps they need a police presence that might need to be redeployed elsewhere? I dunno.
Anyway, 2 minutes silence followed by the anthem (presumably with new words), seems about right to me from an Elite League POV.

Just shows, that like with EIHL standings predictions, I don't have a clue. Glad that the EIHL have taken this decision and that the Queen's passing can be met with a minute's silence.

Before anyone starts saying hockey is better than football blah blah this decision may be more to do with Policing levels especially in the London area
