New nettie tonight! Wonder who... I think we’ll announce a spare import and they’ll also clear up the Brit back up situation as well. No idea who though😂 Luca Sheldon and Lewis Bloor rotation Brit back ups with them starting at Lions with a second import that’ll slot in when we’re short an import or when we rest Debeau

Surely it’s when they are not? Or when any ‘homegrown’ is not icing and they can be iced in preference, though that be unlikely.

I am assuming 'non-homegrown' IS the import and homegrown a Brit. Thus, if you were a 'non-homegrown (import) down you could then use the Brit net minders. So if the import 'non homegrown' is at full strength you'd have your two import goalies on the bench and no need for Sheldon/Bloor.

Sounds like we are going for 1 extra import so Berry will sit out (or Dubeau will if Berry starts) when we are at going with a full import bench (14 imports).
This means for most games I guess we will have a Brit backup as Dubeau will start.
Think we have signed 11 imports so far so last 4 spots will probably be 4 imports.
I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.

We’re allowed to have 14 imports. On a normal game day we will have 13 import out skaters and 1 import goalie with the other being scratched. If for whatever reason one of the import outskaters is injured and we have a spare slot, both will ice. If not, one will and the young Brits will back them up.

Have I missed something, or what happens when the Lions have a game the same night as Panthers? The Lions will have both their goalies (Bloor and Sheldon) icing for them, won't they? Or have the Lions got a back up 3rd goalie too?

Don't forget also that suspensions are personal this year and not team. So, if a team has 15 imports signed, and one is suspended, if all 14 remaining are fit, they can still ice all the remaining 14 in a game.
I'm leaning towards it being a bit strange to sign 2 import goalies and not have them both on the bench whenever possible, though. Even if that means only icing 12 import skaters most games.

I didn’t assume only one of the import netminders would ice. By that I mean bench.

For me we’ve set up the perfect scenario with the goaltending.
We’ve got a fairly experienced import goalie who you’d consider your number 1. Having a spare import goalie to start the season is the perfect preparation for the duration of the season, plus it will help to keep Dubeau on the ball.
Sheldon and Bloor will probably never get any game time with us, unless there is an injury to the starter during a game.
The beauty of it all though is that I don’t think Berry, Sheldon and Bloor will come at a major cost.

Or have the Lions got a back up 3rd goalie too? The Lions will essentially do what Panthers are. They will use a junior goalie from the Nottingham set up to back up Bloor or Sheldon. Not sure thats been put out in a public statement but that is the plan that they have.

It'll be the same situation when we had Garnett along with Galbraith and Munson. And Wiikman with Pacl and Madalora.

But whilst Wiikman and Paci played in 16-17 (Green used) - Madalora was 15/16 season with Wiikman again (Green used) and Garnett and Galbraith were 17-18 (Gospel used). - Munson was 18-19 season with Garnett again (Gospel used)

It could also conceivably be the announcement of our final D man. Hw was apparently signed prior to the release of the last podcast

If three are signed, why not just release the names? I don't get the need to withhold them. Whatever happened to 'when the ink is dry on the contract, then you'll know about it' I know that was a line from Gary, but what's the big deal on not releasing the info?

I guess it prevents the next 3 weeks just being solely tweets about buying tickets and shirt raffles haha. I do believe that what Gary said genuinely used to happen though before social media became more professional. Gone are the days of announcing former NHLers at 4am with no build up whatsoever...
