I'd love to see it just for the meltdown in this place. I'd also argue it's not as far fetched an idea as some would believe. Not from the same source as that AHL winger we signed is it? No intel at all, I have very little intel these days. Just a feeling...

It would be just the sort of lazy appointment that’s happened in just about every new job at Panthers for the last few years. Whistle,Doucet,Wallace,Matheson, part time GM’s,you name it they’re all easy and lazy appointments ! On the contrary. It would bring back a proven successful coach which could help appease the perturbed fan base.

Well to bring in whistle was lazy... To then bring back Neilson would be bone idle!

Blimey Jord he struggled to mount a serious league title challenge in about 9 out of 10 years and that was with a decent looking budget. He’d have have no flipping chance on today’s shoestring budget. And I also can’t see Neilson working under Doucet either unless the DOH gets fired first.

There's no intention from Black to win or even mount a serious title challenge, we all know that... I was thinking more along the lines of feel good factor for the fans really & perhaps a cup success. Doucet won't last the Summer.

I think I've said before someone young who is looking to use this league as a stepping stone similar to what Ben Simon did and has a high ceiling certainly not one of the old timers who's been in and around the league for donkeys years . But they don't come cheap and that is the hurdle

If he’s inexperienced and wants to use the league as a stepping stone, why would he be expensive?

Presumably he means that Simon was a player coach, so they gave an ex-NHL/AHL guy his break, and got both a good player and what turned out to be a league winning coach.
But yes you'd think that would actually be a saving overall. If Blacky could hire one guy as player-coach-GM-media-housing-co-commentary, he probably would.
Actually that's Dan Green, sorted.

Btw Simon took a game as stand in HC earlier this year for the Redwings due to Blashill picking up Covid .. he's definitely moved onto bigger better things since his league success in Sheffield

There is a role for someone who has experience of the EIHL and knowledge of the pathway for British players. Not as a Head Coach, but if we aren't going to spend on British talent and it looks like we won't seeing as we let Perlini leave, as far as I know didn't go in for Conway and look unlikely to sign a Ferrera or Long after his fine season in Manchester, we need to develop the likes of Kelsall and Clarke-Pizzo into top six options. Having coached abroad the last few years he might have more contacts than the current DOH.

It makes more & more sense by the second.

Another tangential one, but Corey Neilson's son Cade is named in the GB squad for the world championships. Best of luck to him!

Best of luck to him! www.eliteleague.co.uk/article/2369-great-britain-squad-named-for-2022-world-championshipsout go Garside, Swindlehurst, Ehrhardt for Mosey and O'Connor on D (allegedly), out go Kirk, Venus, Ferrara, Connelly and Long for Conway, Neilson, Waller on the forward side. Think Garside can think himself unlucky, Ferrara must be surprised. If ollie isn't fit then he must be first in line.
