Tonight's riddle me this sentence... "The Devils were beaten on Friday evening by the hosts 2-1 in a shootout after an enthralling game, and fell behind on Saturday night were ahead just 31 seconds in when Cole Sanford capitalised on an awful bounce in the offensive zone to shoot into an empty net with Justin Fazio totally wrong-footed" www.eliteleague.co.uk/article/2834-devils-destroy-asiago-in-continental-cup

"Both sides had chances to take the lead, but Duneau in the Panthers' net stood on his head on multple occasions to keep the Panthers level. With the gamei n overtime, the Giants had no less than three breakaways to take the extra point but coulkdn't find a way past Dubeau."
Typed in a bit of a hurry, I'd say?
And "no less than than three" is horribly clunky. You mean "three", don't you?

I think we have a "winner" for the WTF headline for the year! The article posted just hours *before* the Continental Cup final is headlined... "Regulation win secures IIHF Continental Cup for Devils" 🤦🏾♂️😂 I get what they wanted to say - "would secure" - but when three hours and three articles later you have now sitting above it ... "Nitra edge out Devils to take Continental Cup title" ... it makes the whole page seem like a confused joke. www.eliteleague.co.uk/article/2838-regulation-win-secures-iihf-continental-cup-for-devils

I've just looked into the OS to see how games are going. With Coventry and Fife tied at 0-0 (its going into OT) they have this and other games unfinished added to the league table with points/goals etc...why? You can't add this Coventry/Fife game mentioned for starters as it is neither won or lost so the games played column and subsequent wins/losses don't tally up. Why the rush? As previous with the Cardiff fiasco (winning the Conti Cup), too far ahead of themselves. As with last night a game set as 'end after shootout' and it was still in play.

Noticed this while looking for the roster rules (lols); just how long is an Elite League season? www.eliteleague.co.uk/the-eihlMaybe we play the extra 6 if Steelers come up short?

Is the OS league wrong???
The Wednesday game in Guildford was/ has been quoted as a CUP game that Flames lost against Belfast 0-4. But been added to the league. I know communication is poor with Elite but where was this mentioned prior to the game, why is the stuff up on FB and Twitter not mentioning it? Post game accounts given but not as one game inclusive of both competitions.
….are we back to this again?
EDIT: Nope, changed minutes after my comments on FB/Twitter. Played Wednesday, league table altered as a 0-4 loss for Guildford , two days later taken off again.

If you thought that league table was wrong spik, you should try this one. Done by the same guy who did the TOI Iron Man stuff in the summer apparently. Edit - haha, they've removed that page entirely now (rather than bring it up to date). Power of the Cage, and all that. Edit 2 - and now it's back! Already wrong, but closer than it was.

“The visitors were firmly on the front food…”
That explains a lot about last night.

Well they did say the goal was bizarre but, even so, I think this 'description' is in full on Surrealism territory... "The winning goal, when it came, was bizarre to say the least. Peter Crinella broke down the win, cut inside, and as he tried to shoot a tangle between him and Norrish saw the puck *look up* over Hölsä and into the net to give the Flames the extra point." Gives a whole new meaning to the expression "not getting a look at goal all night". Though can't help thinking that we'd score more if the puck only had to glance in the direction of the net as it slid wide again www.eliteleague.co.uk/article/2868-flames-stay-three-clear-at-top

“Jeremy Brodeur logged his first Elite League shutout as Manchester Storm beat Nottingham Panthers 2-0 at the Storm Shelter, cutting the gap down between the two teams to just two points.
Over 1,900 fans packed into the Shelter for another strong crowd for the Storm, but they had to wait some 27 minutes to see the game's opening goal. With Albin Lindgrin's hooking penalty winding down, Tyson Fawcett drove the net and poked home his own rebound after Peyton Jones' initial save to put the Storm ahead at 27:13 on the powerplay.
Storm had chances to kill the game off early in period three, and while the Panthers pressed a late Jeremy Welsh minor put the visitors down a man for much of the final 2:37 of the game. Michael Korol was binned for interference with 24 seconds left, but with only 18 remaining Chase Harrison fired in on the empty net from the faceoff circle in his own zone to ensure Manchester would take the points.”
That’s a whole game review in just 5 sentences. Outstanding.

Introducing the three team game... Right image, wrong score, wrong teams. Oh well, 1 out of 3 ain't bad right?

Outstanding. 5 again on tonight's game. www.eliteleague.co.uk/article/2890-cownie-wins-it-late-for-clanI particularly like this explanation of how a goal is awarded nowadays: "a Craig Peacock shot was saved well by Alex Dubeau but the rebound landed straight on the stick of Dyosn Stevenson to put Clan ahead at 27:29." Change that final "to" to "who" and it makes rather more sense. I'll skate over the name issue, I'm presuming Stevenson is currently enrolled in a copyright dispute with a well-known vacuum manufacturer

Now teams don't even have to beat us to catch up to us.

“Mike Hammond capitalised on a blocked Marcus Crawford dump-in to beat Bowns on the breakaway with just under 12 minutes to play, a goal which put the Panthers back ahead on their second shorthanded goal of the night.
Marcus Crawford's blocked dump-in allowed Mike Hammond to skate through and beat Bowns on the breakaway to put the Panthers 4-3 ahead with just under 12 minutes to play on a second shorthanded goal for the visitors. “
A goal so good they reported it twice.
