Just picked this nugget off the comment on Evan Mosey on another thread. The top 22, and 29 of the top 30 players in the +/- table play for Sheffield, Cardiff or Belfast. Dane Gibson of the Blaze is the interloper in the top 30. Somehow Doucet still collects his wage... Quite remarkable really. Not everyone can be above average. It's just a very skewed list. Although, having just looked, 28 of the top 30 in the DEL2 +/- are from 4 teams, so maybe not that unusual. |

Since Belfast are scoring twice as many goals as they're conceding, and Sheffield and Cardiff aren't too far behind that ratio is not that surprising. With every other team in the league conceding more than they're scoring (and Fife nearly double) it's kind of what I'd expect. But it does illustrate just how much stronger those three teams are throughout their squad than the rest of the league. We only have 6 players with a positive +/- in the league over the season and two of those we canned (Suoranta and Jokinnen). In the cup where we've faired better we have 9 current + players. So it's partly a factor of your win ratio. But it is illustrative of lack of firepower across our squad in general and a weaker defence. We are sitting forth in the league, but we've shipped more than we've scored. Ranked by goals scored we'd sit 6th, by goals conceded 7th. So in many ways a 0.52% win rate is better than you might expect |

The Giants essentially won the game in the first period by scoring 4 and overrunning them for 20 minutes, then nothing until an empty net goal at the end. That's what I took as what he meant. Wasn't likely to actually be suggesting they'd only played for 20 minutes in total. It's not an EIHL match report after all, in which case that might be a possible phrase that could occur |

We were obviously on the ice for 60 mins, but only turned up/ played for 20 mins and no team are going to win competing for only 1 3rd of a game.

You've never seen a team playing absolute rubbish down three after 60 minutes suddenly wake up and bang in four or five to win ? Saw one do it twice last week. Must only be the EIHL where no team is going to do it.

Must only be the EIHL where no team is going to do it. Any team coming back from 3 down to win after 60mins is rather special..... yes.
