It’s a bit worrying that there is no news regarding how to get a pofw refund despite the event having been cancelled weeks ago. I know it’s been “re-scheduled” but it hasn’t really has it. The new 5 match weekend that they’re proposing for September is a completely different animal, and surely cannot be sold as the same event re-scheduled. That’s like booking to see the Beatles and being told you can see the Stones in 6 months time (Sorry. Showing my age!) The Motorpoint Arena is saying that they’re just the ticket agents for the league and are waiting for instructions. What is even more worrying is that there appears to be no way at all for Joe Public to contact the EIHL to ask what their plans are. I can find an address for MI5, but not the EIHL!! The big, and I think, very real danger, is that the EIHL will go bust having lost such a huge chunk of revenue and any chance of a refund will vanish. Then the new Black/Kelman/Smith company will set up a new league from scratch with no responsibility for the old, defunct league’s debts. Does anyone out there have an address or email address for the EIHL? Perhaps we all ought to start pestering the Arena into pestering the EIHL! To avoid having to pay those extortionate O8 whatsit numbers you can ring them on 0115 853 3101.

Oh dear! It gets worse. That phone line has now been closed.

You'll have to email the EIHL chairman. But good luck with that, I got no response. This is when I used the Sheffield sites contact details.
All I can say is that I am due GB game refund of the cancelled Nottingham games but we have been asked to be patient.

Took a flyer and emailed the league on an address they used for job applications. To my immense surprise I’ve just had a reply ...
“Thanks for the email – there is a press release going out on Monday, it will be on the Elite website and all club sites. It will advise refunds can be claimed from where you purchased the tickets – if you bought direct from the NIC you go to them for a refund – if you bought through your supporters club then they will issue instructions and email contact details early Monday.”

They did state as much on twitter in the last few days. Announcement Monday. I dont really pay much attention to such details but do all banks apply interest to accounts on the 1st of the month?
Announcement Monday, refunds from Wednesday/Thursday??

Might as well keep the money in their bank earning a bit of interest for as long as possible eh. Half a million quid even at 0.25% is better in their bank than yours.

Would the arena pass the due monies to any event organiser prior to the event taking place? Genuine question as I don't know. I'd have thought the arena wouldn't release any money until afterwards, just in case it gets cancelled as it has here.

You could be right but even if they had all the money they cannot release any of it back until the league give the say so. I did say the best thing to do would be to completely refund everyone for the POW wipe the slate clean and start again when things become clearer, if things get worse with this lockdown people are going to need all the money they can get.

Indeed, I'm getting emails (as you all will) from companies stating what they can do for us. Similar should be from these guys.

That would be way,way too simple though. But it’s exactly what they should do.

The arena has the money, not the league. This is common practice.

I dont have a problem with letting tickets sold stand. Those who want refunds can have them. Even if that mean 5,000 people get a refund, the other 1,500/2,000 still have the seats they are happy to keep. If everybody wants a refund they can get one.

Folk I know that had boxes booked for the POFW already asked (and got) their money back.

Perhaps 'we' should shift the blame away from the league for a change.... I won't hold my breath.

Like as mentioned by a previous poster, there's apparently going to be an announcement Monday, it's been long enough now so we need a definitive answer ASAP. Anyone who purchased via card, will likely would have the refund directly back into their bank accounts.
However there's likely going to be a delay due to the lack of staff the arena has on and there is a backlog. I don't think the card refunds on the GB V Canada game has been done.

Nothing wrong with a pre season tournament to determine playoff winners. If refunded teams in the low end of dollars will fold. Probably leave a six or seven team league which will not be able to survive under the present model. Pick your poison….

Interesting tactics that.

It doesn’t say much for a professional league if a share out of about £40k per team is the difference between some clubs folding or not.

Apparently if you bought your tickets directly from your club they are responsible for processing the refunds. But if you bought from the NIC directly then you’ll have to seek the refunds from them, assume when they reopen?
