Id like to again call on our house Stattos to provide some info. I rekon our top line were at least -2 tonight. Im certain Herr was on the ice for 2 of the 3rd period goals at least. I think we are now really seeing the damage playing short and relying so heavily on one line is doing. Those guys are playing far to many minutes. The good teams are learning how to keep them quiet amd they are now spending more amd more time in the defensive zone as opposed to where we need them, in the offensive zone. House statto. I'll take this one. 41/21/9 (17 being demoted to the other lines last night) were on for goals 3 and 4. Herr was on for the 4 on 4 goal too, so was -3 and pointless for the night. He's not looked his former self that last few games, personally, I think he's carrying a knock. Panthers had 4 lines last night but only played 3 in the second and third. That's what's hurting for me; having perfectly decent players on the bench. Tetlow, Kelsall and Hazeldine can do a job, but TW doesn't seem to see it that way at all, especially in games like this. And effectively benching an import forward. As far as I could tell, Devils iced 4 forward lines all night. It's the new buzz word, but Panthers' game management was very poor indeed. 3-1 up, 10 minutes to go, Devils in the ascendency, but have to do twice in 10 minutes what they've managed once in 50. As soon as it got to 3-2, Panthers' heads went, it was all scramble, panic and try and do it all yourself. Devils looked on a permanent PP. I also can't quite believe the face off stats, Panthers apparently won 30 of 66. I may even go through the game face off by face off, I'm that surprised. I don't remember Lacho winning one all night, yet he was apparently 7 for 11, which is astonishing for him this season. (I'm happy to be proved wrong on this, BTW) That chance Ollie had in the third when the puck bounced out from the back boards was the game. Score that, it's 4-1, game done. Not a dig at Ollie, though, he's scored some great goals from similar this year, just an illustration of the knife edges that games like this are won and lost on. Thanks. 👍 I know Lacho won at least one as I noticed it. Defensive zone in the 3rd period. However I was suprised to see him taking an offensive zone faceoff with a few minutes to go and us needing a goal. Needless to say he lost that one. Tim certainly isn't utilising all his forwards enough. To be honest it looked like he kept his top line together all night(with Perlini) and then did a bit of a Corey with the rest. Rather than playing 4 lines he played 7 forwards in rotation almost making up 3 lines between them. Our top forwards are logging way to many minutes and whay really stands out to me is shift length. Each shift is just far to long too. Probably something else to add into why the top lone is getting scored on so much. They are getting caught at the end of 1min plus shifts.

Agree re Lacho's face off winning ability (or lack of it). Surely that's something he should be coached on and work on if he's going to take regular ones? He's struggling to win 40% this season, whilst Talbot is up around 60%. Devils are very aggressive on the face off, Dixon especially (he's over 60% so far this season). Matheson seemed to play the kind of game TK used to play last night. He barely seemed to be off the ice.

Matheson does spend a vast amount of time on the ice but seems to be shot shy; as do many of them on the PP. We didn't take our chances, we didn't hustle. Bowns looks all in from playing a huge amount of games and the more chance Cardiff have of trying to win the league the more they will rely on him.
We threw it away because of mistakes and poor game control and on this we are going to end up winning nowt!

Yes Panthers have got four lines, but if you look at the lines on the gamesheet last night they’ve basically only got two decent looking lines but the third and fourth are poor. Contrast that with the Devils third and fourth lines and that’s the difference. And that was with Cardiff missing Linglet too, arguably the Devils best player along with Martin.

Been saying this all season - its the bottom six depth that is ultimately our undoing against the better teams. Cardiff have Myers and Batch on their 4th line, we have Kelsall (not sure if he even saw the ice last night?) on our 4th and Lacho centering our 3rd. This isn't 2008 unfortunately and we can't rely on just 2 lines. This team is in desperate need of shedding one of those two for a better Brit next year as well as upgrading Rheault and potentially Malmqvist with some more firepower

So it has to be worked, and reworked, to create the best angle. Hence why we seem shot shy.

It was the most naive last ten minutes of any game I have ever seen. Rheault's (soft) penalty and we came apart like a cheap watch after almost 6 periods. The coach should share the blame with this too but in all probability has saves us a pasting in Cardiff in a few weeks time anyway.

There are NM's who rebound more than a trampoline, but we don't have anyone near the net to get to the rebound. We pass and pass and pass; each time stop and control giving the D and NM time to get into position to block.

Otherwise it's tricky to see where a top-end British forward is coming from.

This year might be an anomaly, but he's one of the best brits not already at a big four team that has the majority of his career ahead of him and not behind him.

Self service. Players get first dibs. It’s only the same stuff as they used to get a few years ago. Then it mysteriously was stopped and they’ve been getting pizza the last few years. Good move though, they should feed their own players good stuff and give the opposition whatever they give us, if they give us anything.

The pizza stopped after Corey departed.
