Highly unlikely, they’d pull the netminder score, then beat us yet again in OT.. Panthers need a 2~3 goal lead with a few to go tbh.

The latest visit from the Orange Nation. They, as always, will be up to put one over the Panthers and to give us a right "Tango" going over. However, whilst heir attacking options are quite formidable, I believe their defence is susceptible and can see a home win. Steelers to have the majority possession but a final Grapes Count of ;- Panthers 2 : Steelers 0.

Reality often leaves Lou's grapes looking like sultanas. Although he did call at least one spot on earlier in the year.
I'll go 3-2 Panthers in regulation.

Sunday got a whole lot harder after the Steelers performance last night. Despite being two players down they made Belfast look bang average. Duba was well worth the shut out. Giants did have chances, hitting the post, missed p/s etc, but after the first period Steelers just took advantage of Belfast turnovers

We're a good match against the Steelers, we played well on Saturday but we need to be able to hang onto a lead especially in the 3rd period cos that's when Steelers are at their most lethal. A home win don't care by how many.

They didn’t take their chances, and when Sheffield did, Belfast pushed further looking to get back in the game and they were punished. Their second and third goals were quite fortuitous as well in my eyes. Belfast aren’t the offensive powerhouse they were last season, we’ve witnessed that in Nottingham, and I believe there are weak links at the back for Sheffield which we can exploit. If we can stifle them offensively, get ahead and get behind the boys, I think we’ll get the win.

Belfast were all over Steelers in the first period last night, but got nothing to show for it, and the Steelers look clinical in front of goal. The loss of Pelech was key, I feel. A lot of the hard yards get done by him. Keys to Sunday. Come out flying, get ahead. Pressure the D. (O'Connor's effort to stop Bulmer last week was shoddy...) Minimise turnovers and grade A chances. Clear the zone. Get in Duba's face.

The Steelers are VERY effective when the play three lines In that case I don't see Rheault, Lacho and the two youngsters getting much ice time.

I know that we are playing The Steelers a lot and that it has lost it's luster but base on current form, I'm actually looking forward to this one.
I think that for the 1st time in awhile, both teams are in the same position league wise and aiming for the same thing (Getting to the top of the league) not 1 team in form whilst the other is struggling.
I think this is the closest we'll have to a blood and thunder type game.

Key difference for me: they’ve got to play Cardiff tomorrow before coming to us.

Both teams in form, Panthers perhaps in a slightly sharper ascendancy, having had further to climb in little time. This has all the components of a classic midseason opener that sets the tone for the coming few months. Naturally now I’ve said that, Steelers will look to flatten the pace as much as possible with tired legs from their game against Cardiff, and sneak a couple on the rush before collapsing back. I do sincerely hope that isn’t the case.
This should be a heartstoppingly open affair, trading goals, controversial reffing, social media mayhem and - whisper it - a resurrection of some legitimate acrimony in the zombie derby.
To see both teams at their best (though I do think Steelers’ offense have one more gear we’re unlikely to see until the stretch - they miss a bucketload of chances through presumptuous plays and still bag 7 or 8), it’s not insane to imagine a two-horse race between them if things fall fortuitously. CAN you imagine?
Panthers are a spirited experiment whose alchemy is finally beginning to sizzle. Steelers are the giant sinister machine who are finally roaring back into life with spitting pistons and an offensive paintjob. They’ve never gone five seasons without a league title, and we’re in the fourth already.
I am begging the cosmos to deliver on this. I have so missed caring less about Christmas Day than what comes in the days after.

It appears that Steelers were not happy ot the refs (Sewell and Dalton) last night. If they are the two refs this afternoon, I can see Uncle Tony having words to make sure they get the rub of the green today!!

Stats from their game last night (from the EIHL website):- Penalties taken:- Cardiff 11 Sheffield 8 PP goals:- Cardiff 1 Sheffield 2 On the face of it... doesn't look all that lopsided against Sheffield, does it? Going on past experience, we're going to have to watch out for Sheffield running our netminder... especially with the likes of Armstrong on the roster, that's always a danger... but when they're feeling all butthurt, it only gets more likely.

He’ll certainly be driving hard to the net today, the boys will have to be wary of that.

They didn’t really have any right to whinge last night judging by the pen count, but they probably did it to put pressure on today’s refs hoping to get the right side of the calls at the NIC.
