If we weren't going to face Euro opposition, I wish we could have struck a deal with the likes of Telford

It is a rather uninspiring quartet of games tbh, purely because of over familiarity.
Agree about anything lower being a bit pointless (didn't we play Peterborough one preseason not too long ago?), but something like the EBEL double the Devils had last weekend would've stood a decent chance of getting me down the NIC.

Perhaps an eye on costs? I suppose we could have cut costs further and played a game against Sheffield

For me pre-season should be all about the team, if Wallace and Doucet believe that playing teams within our league and using them as a measuring stick is better for us than playing some European teams who don’t play our style and we won’t play again then it’s fine by me.

Well, all the team are here, it appears, like them or not on paper. I may attend, I may not, but given the issues of prior years and late arrivals, we've already seen a huge difference this year. Few leaks as to signings, some completely unanticipated, and all here well in advance of the first game of any description. Good start, GD and the chaps.
Now, let's see how they actually play.

Not many travelling to Cardiff on Sunday but a coach and plenty going to Coventry the following week. We might (hopefully) surprise a few people on Saturday night but I think we'll struggle Sunday in Cardiff with it being only the second game. Cardiff have a couple of weeks practice on us. will be interesting to see how we match up against Marjämaki who by all accounts is a wrecking machine.

Looking forward to the games. Summer went very quick so I haven't particularly missed it, but it'll be nice to be back and hopefully we can see a couple decent performances. Cardiff are a very good team and have a week of training camp under their belts already so I won't be surprised if we find ourselves on the back foot but hey, I'd rather us make our mistakes now than in 2 months time.

I wont be going to a match until the first league game on the 28th Spetember. That feels a long way away but a few things feed into why. Im not here for the Steelers game on the 1st but also the fact these games dont appeal all that much. The main reason being that hockey keeps starting earlier and these teams dont add a point of difference to drag me down in August. Certainly not at the prices being charged.
Hopefully the team build some good chemistry and gett off to a good start.

Looking forward to Sunday’s game against you guys, I think your far stronger than what some people think. Our games against each other than play offs semi, are usually very close. Hope that’s the case.

I’m expecting to lose both games to Cardiff because they have been training longer and they played 2 games. I just hope we keep it close and don’t get embarrassed.

Agree about not getting embarrassed, but on the whole, the result is irrelevant. As long as we show some good passages of play, get some goals and look fast enough to compete over a season, I'll be happy.

I kind of get that, we should be at the same point in our preseason prep so it should be a better reflection of our ability versus theirs. But again, preseason is about getting up to speed physically and sorting tactics for the coming season. Also it's Cov!

Panthers travelling fans would have over filled the place I remember years ago we went to Peterborough pre season in 2005/6 and took over the place lol And guess what.... Peterborough actually had to pay Panthers for that fixture. Talk about greedy.

Pre-season games are all about working out what's good and what's not. Results are essentially irrelevant. Come through them with some good ideas, settled lines to start the season and no injuries, and job's a good 'un.

Blow out the cobwebs Get the legs going Get the lungs burning Work on CV conditioning Get the body ready for a physical contest Come away with no injuries Players start to gel on the ice Look at line combinations Score lines irrelevant

I wouldn’t say scorelines are irrelevant, not if you get tanked 0-5 in every game.

It's still about fitness and systems etc else why even bother having pre season in any sport!

Results matter in so far as you don't want to get lit up 4 times in a row, and you want your lot finding the net a bit at least, but nothing beyond that.
Going with our usual bright starts, which seems to be regardless of coach, I think we'll split with Cardiff (home win each) and win the Aladdin quite comfortably.

I can just see it now.. if Panthers get shelled 5-1 etc in either game this weekend Panthers fans in particular will be quick to dismiss the teams chances over the next 8 months!! I've seen and read it all before
