Just when we start to look excellent as a unit, this happens. Kick in the teeth.

[br Exactly, also he's also thinking about his future outside of Hockey, so I can't begrudge him that However if this was to be known last week, would it have affected the VanLeef decision

I never truly got the impression he was committed to being here tbh, he reminded me of a more apathetic version of Zack Phillips. I don't blame him if he's considering leaving the game. Once you've lost that spark in something it's very hard to get it back.

VanKleef is probably still knocking around if we need a filler.
Biggs wasn't all that, to be blunt. Would've been on most people's sit in the stands shortlist I would think.
Good luck to him for the future if he's hanging them up soon though.

Good luck to him for the future if he's hanging them up soon though. It'll be a bit embarrassing to go crawling back to VanKleef probably less than a week after we released him. I'd personally like us to look for another import forward who could potentially see the season out with us. I'm sure we'll pickup a few knocks over the Christmas period so I'd rather have decent cover than an all energy, no production forward like VanKleef.

The frustrating thing about his departure is that weâve just had a terrific weekend, scoring 15 goals, chemistry was beggining to appear and the lines were starting to become settled, now weâre unable to flow with those four consistent forward lines.
Biggs was playing bottom 6, on a line with Lacho and Farmer. He was a secondary scorer in reality, we should have seen more points from him but maybe we would have seen that as the lines have settled and the team has some confidence.
I think we will pick up another player, bearing in mind Cherno isnât afraid to make changes. Dylan Richard was brought in this week without knowing Biggs was leaving, effectively we should have a playerâs salary available. From what the club has hinted Rheault and Hendo will still be out for at least another month, that is a long time to play without a full compliment of imports.

TBH that's more to do with Toronto's management of the time......they couldn't arrange a certain drinking activity in an alcohol production business. As a Senators fan though, it's hilarious they missed out on Saad, Kuchervov and Rickard Rackell for him.

Such is the way of things in the NHL, you're never doing badly unless you're in the middle of the road.

Yet if Panthers said âyour done mate go tomorrowâ the player would no doubt be whinging he wanted his two weeks notice wages. đ€ #annoying

Yes it is strange, surely the club could make him play the remaining two weeks? Then though youâll have a player who isnât fully committed.

Biggs had an immediate release clause, as one or two others do...
They work both ways.

If the player has no will to play it's going to be hard for the club to do much about it, even if he is in breach of contract. The legal costs to take action at a later date would probably mean it's pointless. I'm sure we could hold on to his ITC card or at least restrict where/when he can play for another club even in another country but again is it really worth the hassle? If he doesn't want to be here then we don't want him here. These things happen in this sport unfortunately. We move on and focus on his replacement and see this as an opportunity to become a stronger unit. Hopefully the replacement will be here sooner rather than later but as this news has been sprung on us I suspect we could be waiting a few weeks, could be difficult to convince a top quality player to move here during the xmas period. I'm fairly sure it took us over a month to replace Shalla with Pither and that was a move that we triggered ourselves.

In fairness fans may have found out today, but maybe theclub has known for a wee while and is already addressing it.

Wouldâve been a great way to sign off had he finished that chance off that he made for himself last night.
Good luck to #12 in whatever he does next

I donât think anyone knew other than Biggs. Do people really think Rich would play a player whoâs quitting the next day? He dropped Guptill for coughing up a goal for a game so I think heâd not have stood for it personally.

It begs the question on how lines will be balance tomorrow. Weâve played Billingsley up front this season once. Be interesting to see because every player deserves their minutes right now.
