very very sad and such a tortured soul. He scored one of the best goals I have ever seen at the NIC in the Playoff final against the Blaze, even the Steelers fans stood and applauded that goal. Lets hope he's on the mend.

Hope he can work through it, always liked Boynts for his Panthers/Coyotes connections.
There's a lot of stories like that about, was reading just this morning about Joe Vitale's long, and not yet complete, recovery from his career ending fighting injury sustained while playing in AZ.

You often equate NHL players with millions of dollars, lavish lifestyles etc, but his story is well removed from our perceptions.

That is an uncomfortable read. At the start I was thinking 'what's he got to complain about, he chose the lifestyle and could give up whenever he wanted'. But the life of a journeyman NHL star is no different from say Kevin Westgarth, who I read an excellent article on. It's just that Boynton earned more. At any stage it could all be taken away, and it's no good having $$ in the bank if you aren't around to spend it, or in no state to enjoy it. It's a brutal way to get paid for a living. I just hope he can enjoy a rewarding non hockey life, cos you are 'a long time dead' as they say.

Sounds like he played the role of a thug yet i had him as a highly skilled d man over here which in my opinion he excelled at, so i guess this kinda highlights the difference in how players are perceived at our lower level.. for example Fleury basically won the league championship single handed...
As a dman i thought Boynton was superb so i suppose it was a year out for him over here having not had to thump people, especially as most of the NHL players that season only really started to shine in the playoffs imho. Anyway a player i admired greatly but even if i didnt, i would still hope he can recover fully and move on with his life with full health...
