Can’t say I’m impressed. If this is the standard then I’m underwhelmed. Was hoping for a upgrade....

Nobody was calling for his head, but nobody was calling for him to be re-signed. He didn't really catch the eye but that's normally a good sign for a D-man. I'm open to seeing where Rich takes things and won't judge the guys heavily before they play together

Same, however if Chernomaz wants to play physical hockey then someone’s been lying to him about Billingsley

Welcome back Tim! Good at both ends of the ice, transitions with speed, just needs to be a bit more disciplined, bring more physicality but be smarter about it.

Not flash, but dependable and pops up in the right place at the right time. I'm certainly not unhappy with this. Welcome back Tim

The defense is a really interesting spot. As individuals i had no problem with any of ourdefense last year except spang. But therea no doubt we shipped too many goals.
As a stand alone signing im fine with this. Billingsley is steady and goes un-noticed which is good. And 0.5 ppg is a pretty good return for a second line dman.
But will all depend of the rest of the defense. Say we het gagnon back aswell, then we're looking to replace spang and Sauve (who i get were the top earners) and Breisboi. Replace sauve with a stay at home stud, think Beckett or Munn. And replace spang with a Wenner type player and think we're in bussiness.
Munn - Wernner Gagnon - Billingsley Lee - Briesboi Tetlow
That looks fine to me as long as we bring in a good nettie.

I agree with you on the type of players but I’d like to see a true PP expert in there, our own version of Hotham, O’connor, Vandermeer if you like.

Solid enough, fair signing. But got to be no higher than a number 3 or 4 defenceman.

Spanger was a good Dman the problem with him was he played too many minutes the same as Lindhagen. You expect some mistakes if you play the guys to death.

Thought he was pretty solid personally, glad he's back. Wouldn't want him as a first pairing guy but he's a solid 2nd pair d-man.

Didnt play any thing like the amount of minutes Sauve played so a poor excuse for what was a pretty average D man.. average size average physicality average speed average body checker... just average... think panthers can do substantially better... As for Billingsley, well again pretty average but as a 3/4th D man should do that role adequately... Need studs for 1 and 2 (considering we havent a quality brit to fill that role and no i dont class Lee as a quality brit) but a fairly solid if unspectacular start to the new coach's signings..

according to the coach on the OS Tim has the potential to ice as a Brit in the National Team. I didn't know he had British parentage did anyone else? I thought coach probably got him mixed up with someone elselse? .
just had an answer from Calum I think. apparently Tim holds a British passport.

Not disappointed but not thrilled either. Would be wanting a bit more in terms of the physical side of his game. We could have signed worse. As long as we aren't trying to bill this as our star defender not overly worried
