Can certainly see why our league (all Euro leagues really) appeal to them. That travel is brutal, "bus legs" doesn't come close.

Its an unforgiving life thats for sure. Does it offer some reason why our team under performs, they come here and realise its a good life as long as they do a bit now and again, and stay fit. Mr Ling doesnt come out of the story in a good light, too old, too slow, too fat. And yet he and others think he could rescue our team.

Doing that in the ECHL for £400 a week or having a lovely cushy jolly in the EIHL on double the money ? It’s a no brainier. And yet they tell us there’s no players out there.
Mmmm right O !

They should offer the whole squad a contract to come over en bloc.... on the understanding they play with passion or go back pronto.

Just because it's a no brainer to you, doesn't mean it is to them. I'd choose the ECHL over the EIHL. The EIHL is an okay league, but it's too cushy for my liking. I'd rather have a lot of pressure and less job certainty. Money might be poor in the ECHL but at least the pressure is on for players to push themselves and they can be rewarded with loans to the AHL and invitations to AHL and NHL camps if they perform. What do EIHL'ers get? Bladdered for half the season with very little pressure on their jobs. The EIHL needs to toughen up, clubs need to toughen up, if players play like their job depends on it the product we'd see would be a hell of a lot better.

If you are in your late 20’s and the chance to become a regular AHL/NHL player has passed, then why would you stay for less money and more pressure unless you have family etc settled already?

Interesting read. A few bits stood out. Such as them only using 1 ref as opposed to the 2 man system. Considering a lot of players said that EIHL needed to go to 2 man to be take seriously.
One thing that stood out quite a bit foe me was the use of a minimum wage floor. So they have a top cap and a minimim. Wage caps have been discused at length over the years and there are plenty of reasons the top cap just wont happen over here. However, I would love to see us apply the minimum spend. It would stop the Caps being the farce that they are. Yet another season where their place in the league will be questioned (probably not by the people that matter). They should make an effort to be competitve or do the decent thing. If they were an animal they'd have been put to sleep long ago.
And to think the league caved in on the conference set up to keep the likes of them happy.
