Not boring. Just remembering great players and great times. Only boring if you’re a newcomer and have no idea what these players contributed.

Ya just can't compare two players from different eras.... Attempting to do so is the height of stupidity and yeh ignorance of the conditions that they played in.
Personally I prefer the ones that skate the full length of the ice during a bench clearance to take on the opposition netminder..... Now that's being a team player !

It's a thread on past players. If that's boring go to another thread. How many insults is that you've dished out now. It's not even a contraversial thread... Anyway, back on topic. I'd go Kwall all day. Won trophies and at times singled handedly kept out better teams in finals. Oh and then there's the slam! If you look at their stats before signing Kwall played more AHL games and had better ECHL stats so at the same standard did better. Most importantly based on what he saw he was a winner. I think he must be the most overlooked player for a retired shirt.

I'd like to add Calle Carlsson - Mr cool - except season he played up the road Daryll Easson - Just for scoring THAT overtime goal to lift Panthers first trophy (new era) at the NEC. I was there and the crowd just went mad.. Randall Weber - whole career with single team. And he was classed as a Brit. Jamie Crapper (changed to Craiper later) - How many goals from outside the blue line??

I’m sure it was Layton Erratt that scored the game winner at the NEC in 1986

While we're reminiscing, does anyone know of any footage of John Purves' shorthanded goal against London in the 02/03 season at the Docklands Arena, where he skated past every single Knights player and deked the goalie. It was the night after we beat Sheffield 8-2 at the NIC and it was the best goal I have ever seen.

I was there on that Sunday afternoon at London Arena !, John literally walzed round all 5 London knights like they werent there for the shortie. We couldn't believe what we just saw !! Would loved to have seen it again... and again And that London team were pretty tidy as well

Picked the puck up near our goal, waltzed round every Knights player on a mazy skate and made the goalie look silly. Pure class. 👍 It was even worth the unjust £60 fine and 3 points I got for speeding on the way home.

That London side had some really good players, Sean Blanchard on D was top notch and they were (like all ISL teams that year) as tough as teak.

Good to see mention of Mitchell, Laxdal and Olsen. I loved to watch Nienhuis (he actually played a gig as a guitarist/singer in the place that's now Copper on Market Street, I think) but his knees were shot, playing wise. A bit like Magic Marty Dallman though, you wonder how good he must have been in his prime. Also remember Brandin Cote fondly for some reason, and the tank that was Steve Simoes. Trevor Gallant made the biggest impression. 3+13 in 6 league games, after a 40 point non playoff season in the DEL.
But my favourite no-nonsense, never gets enough credit, Panther ever was Jim Mathieson. If only for him beating the absolute snot out of Mike Ware in Sheffield, and not even getting a minor.
From about 2.50 in this video.
