I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that player profiles...
And I'm curious as to why it's not used when building a team, that a coach knowing what overall team profile he's looking for doesn't have access to a database of player profiles.
It all seems a bit hit n miss.
Here's a thought why don't we as a forum come up with a set of profile characteristics and profile our own team..... Might be interesting.

Good idea....it's called Elite Prospects. I will ask Mr Moran next time we're out to dinner and i will suggest that you should be the one to put your idea to Neilson that this is what he should be doing ! đ

The experiment is like to run is very similar but more complex than the 'guess the beans in the jar' larspsyll.wordpress.com/2013/09/17/the-wisdom-of-crowds-and-bean-jar-experiments/It goes like this we define a set of characteristics for a forward and defenceman then a reasonable amount of people here score each player with the results being aggregated to give a player his profile across the range of characteristics. With a teams player profiles so defined we can then aggreate each line to determine its profile and the team as a whole. Understanding the team profile would help us understand where improvements could be made by line or player changes. Or as a forum community we could just continue with the moaning. Those that wish this forum to be something else, here's ya chance.

Yeh but I don't have a dictator fetish... And those that support the supporters trust should be able to see that this an add real value to their cause and answer the question that all they're about is being negative and criticising when things are going wrong...
A player or teams profile aggregated from 100, 500 or 1000 supporters would carry a lot of weight.

Youâve chosen the wrong medium then. The cage is the most ridiculed of all the fan media, and wouldnât carry any weight whatsoever.

Well it'll only be taken seriously if it has the power to deliver something of value... For the constant criticism is of no value to anyone at the club.
The online community can be a force to be reckoned with. Social media can be an enabler as opposed to being seen as the enemy.
But I tell ya, sitting on ya backsides, lurking in the darkness and only coming out when one has something acidic to say helps no one.
Seize the moment.

Wouldn't we have to profile every potential player?

So whatâs the proposal here?
We deliver a letter to Moran and Neilson saying that âwe the fan base has decided Tim Billingsley has scored 7 out of 10 for shooting from the blue line...â
Then what?
Ask a lot of Panthers fans their opinion and youâll have NHL scouts queuing out the door to watch the previously unknown ânext-McDavidâ... Ollie Betteridge!

Oh yeah ...... Cause a players profile is based on a single characteristic...
No it's not... It's a lot more complex.
As for talking to Moran, get a grip.I
And we can't profile every potential player, all WE can do is profile our players...... And once we get proficient at it other teams players if we fancy the challenge.

Iâm sorry mate, but do you really think a group of fans opinion on players is going to carry any weight against professional coaches and scouts. Corey isnât going to look at this and think âah thereâs the issue, Luke Pithers wrist shots are only a 6 out of 10, Iâll replace him....â Not really sure what this is trying to achieve. Especially for the supporters trust!?

Get the ball rolling then... Well the first thing that would need to be done is define the characteristics that we wish to vote against that defines a player.. Defenceman and forward. yeh I could do this myself but it really should be the result of a group input otherwise some level of bias might creep in.

It's odd people here have opinions about the pl ayers, lines, the defence or forwards, the team as a whole....
"Hope we bring in someone who's a tad no nonsense as I still think our D are a bit soft."
But offer the cage forum the means to aggregate everyones opinion together to give a definitive opinion and its..
"The daftest idea"

Youâre trying to sell an idea that clearly no one is interested in and youâre expecting everyone else to do the leg work. Think you should let this idea go as it has no value whatsoever

At the moment youâre telling us about this opportunity to make a difference to who the Panthers sign, yet not actually doing anything. Please also donât mix quotes... I think your idea is daft but I didnât say our D is soft. Likewise whoever thought our D is soft, may not think your idea is daft.
