The latest Old Time Hockey UK Podcast with Mario Belanger.
In today's show I interview former GMB Nottingham Panthers, Durham Wasps, Basingstoke Beavers and Telford Tigers goal scoring forward Mario Belanger.
It was December 1994 and Panthers head coach, Mike Blaisdell, persuaded the former Durham and Basingstoke forward, to return to the UK and sign as a replacement for the departed Darren Schwartz.
Although the Panthers promised much that season, having led the league for most of it, injuries and loss of form took it’s toll and once again the League Championship eluded them. You can listen to the full Podcast interview from your desk top or laptop here: Season 2 Episode 10 or You can download the audio Podcast to your iPhone here:

Please Note: I only post Panthers related podcasts onto the Forum, to date I have interviewed:
Marc Twaite, , Graham Waghorn, Randal Weber, Jamie Leach, Frankie Killen, Jimmy Keyes, Paul Adey, Fred Perlini, Craig Melancon, Gavin Fraser, Kenny McKie, Todd Bidner, Selmar Odelein, Steve Carpenter and Mario Belanger
however there are also many more (all in, a total of 40) podcasts that you may also find interesting You'll find all of them here: Old Time Hockey UKThe Mario Belanger Podcast Interview Click here:Season 2 Episode 10

Darren Schwartz. A name that doesn't get said often around these parts. An absolute beast of a player in the ECHL, pre (200 points and 400+ PIMs in the 2 season prior to arriving here) and post (200 points and 450 PIMs in 3 ECHL seasons, as well as a 77 and 187 respectively year in the UHL) his stint at Panthers, built like a bull, but didn't skate with the puck anything like Adey and Durdle (and most other BHL imports at that time) so was released very early on. (Unless I'm missing some other reason...) I saw him play 2 games I think, 1 at home and 1 at Slough. What a different world it was then, when Belanger's return of nearly 3 points per game (including 45 goals in 32 games) can be described as "disappointing"...

Maybe listen to it.
People have different tastes and views. What might be right for you, may not be right for some.
