Its great to get away from the English winter, although i do miss ice hockey when I do go to New Zealand - second thoughts not so much this season. However it was interesting to see roller hockey played with outlooks to the ocean as a backdrop and Cape Kidnappers. These games entice people into related games and perhaps then into ice hockey. I found the scenes really interesting and people can share this on the video if they wish to. I suppose it should be termed as in line roller hockey to be correct. In this case they called called Napier Sharks.

There is a pro/semi pro league in New Zealand. A fella called Brian Dunford who plays for the Turkish side we faced in the CC used to play there.

Yes its very minor and played mainly in the South Island, with a couple of teams in Auckland. There is some ice hockey played in schools. There is a so called Camorra hockey school in Auckland which aims to develop in line hockey and ice hockey. I think this is a good idea where money and facilities are limited. There is obviously some cross over of skills from the inline game to ice hockey. Perhaps more inline hockey, which is affordable for more kids might help the uptake of ice hockey in UK?
