Challenge Cup third, mainly due to the current format. Doubling up with league games, a largely pointless extended group phase and no fitting final cheapen the cup for me (two-leg midweek tie is not the way to decide a major trophy in my opinion). Autumn cup (Norwich Union / B&H) was better, as it gave real intensity to the early season and the one-off final pre-Christmas was always a great occasion. The Challenge Cup is a one off final now. Held at Sheffield. Last season Cardiff beat Sheffield. (Rather surprisingly given that home advantage in a final means you will win it - playoffs...)

Touching on what TK mentioned, I'd love to see the CC format be that of the PO weekend and have the playoffs actually be a hockey playoff format of 3-5 game series. I honestly do not know how this han't been attempted yet but i guess that's why I'm on here not pitching ideas to the board.

Yes, you are right about the final of course (kind of ignored the CC final last season as we didn't get there for once). But my objection to the group phase / double-up games stands, and I really based my rankings of trophies on how I have felt about Panthers winning the different ones, and in the case of our Challenge Cup successes we won in two-legged finals. If (when) we win it with the one-off final format I may have a whole new opinion about the competition!

Why miss off the Aladdin Cup??? Plus the next silly cup invented. Just a change to present formats is needed. A revamp of the play-offs to bolster it up is needed. The next problem is then how to explain how the league was more important till now and then how the PO are best loved from then on........lol

To remember though that the PO have less a percentage of fans pushing you on to win. As opposed to half the building.

But apart from them knowing what I don't regards finance, ability to equal games out etc... So all clubs get a reasonable bat at the crease. They have no vision. You can operate a play offs that include all 10 teams. You otherwise can do this for theCup too but they won't reduce the league games in order to improve the other competitions.

They don't like the idea of multiple game play off games, because it means booking the arena for a game that might not get played, but that they would have to pay for.
If it was a best of a three game series with Panthers hosting games one and three and then it was all over two games to nil,the arena would have to have been booked in abvance and presumably paid for,in case game three was needed.
Then again,in Panthers case,if they were the higher seed and therefore having the two home games, they would probably give up that advantage, take the cheap option and just settle for game two at home !

I suppose it's also down to the arenas schedule as well, but if they want to take steps forward then this has to be the end goal to get this league taken more seriously. Playoff series hockey is the most exciting sport spectacle I've ever seen, it's where rivalries are born could give Belfast someone to have a valid hatred for
