Looks as though it might be #11, Greg Hadden.

From the start of the clip my initial thoughts were either Hadden or Blake Knox, who wore shirt #77 that year for us. Name on shirt looks too long to be Knox though. As he hasn't got his stick, you can't even see if he shoots right or left, which would help (Hadden right, Knox left). The bit where he's being helped up at the end looks more like Hadden.

Loved visiting the WNIR. I've only been to the BBT once so I don't know if he still goes, but who remembers the Devils fan who would sit in the away block and welcome all the visiting fans?
He would always chant Devils in between chants of panthers. Not matter how long chants went on for.

Loved the atmosphere inside the rink, it was a real old-school hockey venue not like the sanitised arenas of today. Always had great banter with Devils fans, especially Echo as you mention. Prided himself on trying to out-shout however many away fans had made the journey, but always made you welcome.

Without doubt that's Greg Hadden, Blake Knox is on the bench stood next to Scott O'Connor when mike bishop is fighting in front of it.

I believe that there was an event at Arnold Liberal Club a few days after that game and the only player to miss it was apparently Blake Knox, with a head injury sustained in that game. Hadden never had those black bottomed skates?

I think it's too tall for Hadden, if you look at him and Hope skating side by side towards the net there doesn't appear to be the 8-9" difference between them that there was. But if it isn't Hadden, then who else could it be, Bobyck ?

But the shots of him sitting up look rather like Greg. Don't think it's Bobyck and looking at our roster for that season I can't really think who else it might have been.

I'm no wiser. I've checked the programmes for that season, and the box scores for the away games at Cardiff. None of them mention Hope getting a roughing/fighting/x-checking penalty, so he must have got away with it. The only away match where Mike Bishop and Ian McIntyre (Devils #21) got co-incidental penalties was in the B&H Cup on 28th Sept 1997, when they both got 2 for holding and 2 for u/sports. Fighting was called in those in those days, even the bench clearance at Sheffield was full of 5+g for roughing calls !! Sorry can't help more...
