We bring a special jersey out every year so why haven't we got on board with this fantastic initiative?
So many teams around the world are involved and it would be great to see the EIHL involved.
I'd bid on a pink guys or lilac jersey knowing the money goes to a great cause.
Anyone know why we don't do this or any other initiative? They were quick to tweet about Janssen with troops so there is another cause if they wanted to bring our special jersies with meaning.

Is HFC a global thing then? I've always assumed it was just the NHL?

Interesting, looks like Storm did it this weekend. Agree that is something we could easily do.

They have said there is a charity Jersey coming soon, although not which charity it is.

To be fair I think it is a case of they like to do their own thing rather than follow the crowd. Sometimes though it is good to be part of the crowd and boost the numbers and get a real sense of camaraderie that transcends club and league.
The Panthers come across as very isolated in this aspect, it feels a bit like GM's train set and no one else can play.

You have to wonder at the fun that the club could have with the whole 'Pink Panther' theme... (unless there are copyright issues or something - no idea!).

This infuriates me more then anything with our club! We're all about shirt give aways and crappy competitions but when it comes to something that has no doubt affected a high percentage of fans through one way or another we should be doing something about it! I lost my mum to cancer 8 years ago when I was 17 and we've done fund raises and charity events to raise money. The fact panthers don't do anything is cheap, get a pink jersey and auction off 5 per player, have buckets out for your loose change and then get a raffle on the go for panthers/hockey memorabilia and announce the winners on the website. Doesn't take much to make an event of something and it would raise a fair whack for a fantastic cause! End of the rant!

It's not exactly like it's a hard thing to organise either. Like others have said, all you need really, at a minimum is a few people walking around in HFC T-shirts, caps etc.. with buckets to give money into. Then you just expand on that, whether it's special Purple jerseys/warm up jerseys, a one off chuck a purple puck or even just give the players purple stick tape and then have them sign their sticks to be auctioned off after a game.
It would be very interesting to see who decides what Panthers do for charity and their reasoning by the lack of support and ideas for some stuff.

They have done an event for Macmillan Cancer Support previously (around 2008), and more recently with the Teenage Cancer Trust (2011). Also for Nottingham Breast Cancer Research Appeal, Prostate Cancer Research and also got behind the Weston Park Cancer Charity (Amy Usher).
Add to that the other charities that they support, it's not that they are sitting on their hands.

Problem is with charities you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. Everyone has different agendas and perogatives as to what they deem worthy of attention/money (I'm more inclined to give money to animal based charities for example), there's also the issue of when does enough become enough because there's always another charity you can give money too.
There are things you can be critical of the club for but I don't think this is one of them.

Panthers do a lot of charity work - hockey fights cancer is very much a North American campaign and sometimes people will feel money donated to British causes is a more popular way to go. Criticising a club for not going with one charity when there are millions out there is inbelievable

Not sure they'd be damned if they did, in this instance, given how widely affecting cancer is. Don't want to speak for him, but I don't think nate24 was specifically suggesting supporting HFC, just doing something on a theme given it's that time of the year, as the Storm have done. Doesn't seem unreasonable to me tbh. jdizpt8 was perhaps a little more emotive, but clearly it's an issue very close to him, as it is for many of us. Why not a league wide initiative, for a specific weekend, churn out the stuff needed centrally, some Rhino jerseys each to be worn at home for 1 game per team then auctioned, bucket collections, some low cost/higher price t-shirts to sell on the night etc, and pool the proceeds at the end to distribute to a few cancer charities, would be a nice shared event and, if nothing else, good PR for the league. Panthers do do a lot of good stuff for their named charity each season these days, for which they should be, and are, commended, but I don't think this would detract from that.

This would be fantastic. I thought maybe they could wear a couple of shirts in the game so that the volume makes a lot of money but then there should be a jersey in most people's price range. Or raffle the lot on match night so money is less of an issue. I know we do our charity things but for once I want us to jump on the bandwagon. The Berlin Polar Bears jersies look awesome and ours would look similar as the designs and logos are similar.

I complain much about the club and the league for various reasons. From not keeping to traditions or just the amateurish way that things don't stay uniformed. I have my personal interests for or against things. eg) jersey retirements etc.... and as regards this subject I have always and STILL complain of the number of jerseys we wear in a single season or the yearly over haul of what seems like little change to them for the purposes of cash income. But I obviously can't moan about the help towards charities. Therefore wish we did not have as many shirts but if your doing a charity one, do it but don't bring out a Christmas one, a Halloween one etc.... As has been said, the club has and probably will do charity events. So why are we complaining of a missed opportunity? I bet the charity to be unveiled does not feel that it has been missed. There are so many good causes, how do we choose? Have WE contacted the club to advise what would be a good cause this season?
I'm unaware of what the HFC is. Just read this thread. Can't the Panthers be on this one or is it a set date it was organised upon like yearly events such as Movember? Shorty mentioned quite a few charities that have benefited.
