I hope we have not let him slip through the net.

I will be deeply unimpressed if it's not to us.

I will be deeply unimpressed if it's not to us. Same here. Then again, we are very busy organising a(nother) shirt sale though.

If his destination is not Nottingham they don't want him its that simple. Hes in our system so would first offer on him. Fancy he alongwith Hook and Ollie will make up our 4th line

The black, the gold, the brown and the warm-ups all gone too? Brilliant - now crack on with the real stuff and sign Cownie. Then add Betteridge and Hook to our current Brit contingent and it's a healthy looking Brit corps signed up for starters.

Well the Clan are going to need to recruit some brits if they are running with 4 lines next season and with Cownie being from Scotland I would imagine he would be one of their top targets.

It's 20+2 under IIHF rules. NHL is 18+2.

I'm sure that NB said he wanted 9 Brits next season? Ideally this would be:- Green Lee Oakford Clarke Lachowicz Farmer Boxill Betteridge Cownie So, that would do it so maybe Hook will only be required if we miss out on Cownie or if one of the injured Brits doesn't recover? Or one may leave of course? Who knows? Add the 9 Brits to 11 imports and 2 'duals' and we're at 22 (20+2 NM's) so works out bang on 4 lines ( & 12F) which is also something I believe NB wanted to aim for.

Hook had better numbers than Cownie this season.

Cownie needs to develop his career, and if he will get more ice time at another Elite League Club then it is better for him.
A 4th liner with reduced ice time here compared to a 2nd or 3rd liner with more ice time somewhere else.
I do hope he signs for us, but there is more to it than the fact he has played for us already.

I think we will get Hook and\or Betteridge rather than Cownie to be honest

If he signs for Clan I'll be gutted. If it's not us, then I'd hope he goes to somewhere like Dundee, which is his hometown. He can try and prove himself there and see what happens. Him, Hook and Cownie all fitted in really well in the CHL though.

From seeing Hook and Cownie at Peterborough, there was not much to split them. But I think Hook has a bigger upside offensively. When he was still in a cage, he would just lack a final touch - but was uber-creative. Cownie maybe had a slightly better 2-way game. But really, not much in it either way, tbh.

It may well be coincidence but by all accounts its likely that braehead are making a signing announcement tomorrow. Could well be Jordan cownie. Given he's Scottish it will be a lot closer to home for him if he does sign there.......

Lacho needs to become consistent. He was poor in too many games last season.

So assuming Clan sign Cownie tomorrow, is it time to sign a better standard of brit straight off the shelf than train someone up from the very bottom, and whilst the next few players are hardly veterans, their training abroad will surely have helped them develop more than having stayed here; Liam Stewart - whilst I understand he would a) probably want to have a shot at ECHL/AHL level and b) would only be probably a dual national anyway if not a full import because of the daft import/british trained rules - would he be a possibility, tweeted the other day that he is to leave Spokane Chiefs of the WHL as I assume age limits. www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=122003Another as I mention every year would be Brett Perlini who id love to see us try and sign - a genuine Brit who has cut it at ECHL level for a couple of years, who could possibly be tempted over www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=19180Jack Prince is another who either this year or next will have finished his studies in the highly acclaimed NCAA league, a genuine brit again who has good size. will be interesting to see how he gets on for GB in the championships later this month www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=44382Joseph Lewis - called up for the brit team but didn't make the 23 man cut. playing in the german 3rd division, don't know much about this kid personally, but another potential recruit, provided he isn't too settled in Germany. and maybe one for Cardiff to capture having played a few years in their junior teams. www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=43479Scott Conway - one to keep tabs on for the future. just finished 1st year in NCAA and has done very well points wise in his rookie season, and will only go on to be better in the next 2/3 years he'll be there. also played in our junior teams, one for the future, although will no doubt give AHL a shot once his studies have finished www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=93316N.B. the standard of NCAA is one of Americas top development university leagues. such players as Martin St. Louis, Brian Gionta and Jonathan Toews have all come through NCAA, and faces playing in there, expecting to be top draft picks in the NHL this summer, include Jack Eichel (expected to go 2nd overall) and Noah Hanifin (expected to go 3rd overall)

Braehead did offer Cownie a contract last year but he chose to stay at MK lightning
