I'd be a bit surprised if Fox wasn't offered a job in the summer, why wouldn't we want him? Didn't he go home for his wife's work though?

I'd heard he was pretty much our No.1 target but haven't heard anything as to why it never happened? If I could take only 2 of our Grand Slam team back it would be without doubt Fox and Lepine.

The memories of Fox are unforgettable, but he looked very out of shape on his ice bucket challenge.

Any problems on the ice has the be the coaches problem. That's what he gets paid for and that's the same in any sport.

What I thought would be a glass half full v half empty argument or posts slating certain individual players has turned into a very interesting debate about the position and direction of the club.
I wouldn't want to over-criticise Corey Neilson, after all he has presided over our most successful period ever in terms of silverware. However, I wouldn't necessarily say that the success in his time means he's a coaching genius either. If we'd won a series of league titles, maybe, but no matter how many we have won most were short-series cup format competitions. I judge a coach by how he builds a team to challenge over a full season, how flexible he is with styles and systems, and whether he can get an average group of players to play above themselves. Corey did the first of these once, but I remain unconvinced on the other two factors. This season I suspect he may need to demonstrate his abilities in those areas and I think a season like this will tell us more about how good a coach he is than winning the league with a strong team including several real gems of players and lots of self-motivated individuals.
At the same time, only the players can make a difference once they step on the ice and they need to give 100% every game and do the jobs assigned to them by the coach. If that turns out not to be good enough, that is not a player's fault, he can only play to his own ability, and it comes back to the coach again.

It is a good debate.
One point I would like to add is that players can sometimes completely derail a game plan single handily. In a tight game 1 lapse in concentration can make a big difference.
Also player discipline can play a big part. Just look at the Rugby Super League Grand Final thing. The coach had obviously done a decent job over the course of the season, otherwise they would not have reached the final. Then one of his players goes out and gets sent off within 2 minutes effectively killing any chance his team had of winning the game.

My concern is that we have too many injuries. Okay Benedict gets concussion - that can't be helped, but we seem to constantly get other injuries which makes we often wonder if the strength and conditioning regime is wrong and the players are not properly preparedL

That's what always worries me too.
We always seem to be the team who sign the guy who was injured last year,or ones who very soon pick up an injury making you wonder what the player knew themselves but didn't disclose,or whether we got him because he was cheaper because nobody else wanted to take a chance. This year it was Lee,last year it was Wren, before that Tzchacuk,Ryan,Van Hoof,Nimorovsky,Tyvrdon and that's without even thinking much about it.
Whichever player agency Panthers use,I think it's time to find a couple of new ones !

Another loss (albeit OT) to an understrength team.
And the most worrying statistic is - only one regulation time league win this season, and that was over a month ago in the first game of the season.
