Henley banned for tonights march, so we are down to four defenders, could be tricky.

I don't care what the score is as long as we win and don't get any more injuries

I'm not quite sure that is a sucker punch.... That's a sucker punch all day long,Sawyer got five games for a sucker punch a while back and the Hull player was looking at him at the time.Henley has hit him square in the face when he was clearly looking away from him.I'd be surprised if he get' s less than 5 games. Not much of a punch: Fulton got up almost straight away. More of a slap really, hence why, like others, I would have liked to have seen what led up to it. Shouldn't have done it, though. Better to have nailed him with a hard check later in the game.

What does it matter what led up to it? A players responsible for his own actions surely? The league didn't appear to take into account Lord slashing and spearing our players when Nickerson's ban was dished out, or Bowen's antics in the Dundee game last season which lead to Pitton getting 3 games for a sucker punch.

I think one match is consistant, nickersons three match ban was for a much more serious offence in my opinion.

I think one match is consistant, nickersons three match ban was for a much more serious offence in my opinion. It has only been upgraded to a match penalty because Fife asked the league for a review. Nickerson's penalty(s) was(were) a straight match so it was automatically reviewed.

And this is what Henley got thrown out for To put it into context Fulton had just finished a forecheck which Cowan deemed he did with an elbow and was calling that and then in comes Henley. For the penalty shot the linesman on the other side of the goal signalled goal but Cowan didn't want to be over ruled Imho we dont see what happened before this incident but its pretty clear you dont mouth off in front of a 6.5 foot recognised hard man and expect nothing. In your own words he had been called for elbows and this after an injury to what many believe was the best defencement in the country last year i am pretty sure tensions were high. The game penalty from that seemed harsh but i guess understandable (although surprised if he had received this at home with an english referee) but to then extent this to a match for "excessive roughness" seems (and also have a review, jeez is this the fastest review in history?) imho is setting a pretty clear precident especially given the thuggish nature of some other squads in our league. If fulton didnt want to get filled in dont elbow its that simple.. As for the penalty shot net is clearly off its mooring no matter how slow mo you do the video, no one can tell if it even crosses the line let alone before the net is moved. Regardless of whether the linesman thinks its in (is he scottish too btw as it seems decisions all night went in favour of the home team not least of which 2 mins of 5-3 to equalise the game) the ref said no and thats all that matters in the end....

Because the definition of a sucker punch is an unexpected punch, you could argue that if Fulton had committed an offence gone un-punished (elbows) he might have expected it or had he been involved in a roughing penalty he might have been expecting it...

Ah right, so we're just expected to put up with crap decisions game after game and take it? Other teams went bitching to the league last season about us, about team we actually used the official channels open to us seeing as we didn't the first 2 seasons. I also guess this was the club "testing" how consistent the league would be with it's decisions. And I'm not comparing it too the Nickerson incident, I'm referring to the 3 games Pitton got last season for a sucker punch.

I say we enquire as to whether Penner wants to come over and play D next time Fife come down...

so if you think this is worthy of 3 a three match ban, I assume you were up in arms that Nickerson only got three for his cross check to the back of Lords neck?

I can't remember the last time Panthers went crying to the league for a review. Fife employ a douche like Fulton, send him out there running his mouth off, throwing elbows in and generally actinf a tit then cry to the league when their gob on skates gets a slap. Of course I'm sure the fact they lost had no influence on their mar mar! Pathetic. I thought Fife were honestly better than that.

Is it too much to hope that this might shut up those in the Fife fanbase who keep going on about how the 'rich' teams control the league and get away with anything? One of the fastest reviews in league history and an almost immediate ban... yep, looks like we control the league...

Of course it won't. As evidenced in this thread the "oh woe is us" crowd are already trying to draw comparisons with an incident last season.

All the bitching around the league is because most don't want the Panthers to be successful and will back any action that weakens the team. Far to many saddos follow hockey in this country.

Whether the call on Fulton was right or wrong is irrelevant, Cowan thought it was illegal and had already called the penalty on him and then for Henley to be so dumb as to do that really questions how some players are wired. I did think at the time that the Game penalty was wrong but having seen the evidence of the clearly unexpected attack I think the call is now right. Over the last two seasons Flyers have sucked up decisions and not referred anything to the league but Cowans incompetence, and it has been called that by Dutiaume in pre-game interviews, in last nights game and in the Play-Off game in Kirkcaldy last season seems to have pushed him over the edge and start to play by the same rules as everybody else in the league. There are plenty of still pics of the puck sitting behind the post and space between the puck and the goal line with Kowalski on his back and the nets still in place because its his left leg that eventually displaces the goals and not his back.

I presume the speed of this ban has nothing to do with our new head of discipline being an ex Murrayfield player?

Totally agree with you on the tool Fulton though.

I guess I would have been pretty wound up not to have beaten a team, on home ice, with only three Brit defencemen left, including a rookie, and on the powerplay for a large portion of the final period.
No wonder they are upset.
