Mmmm,if Tuma doesn't shape up i can see him being on a plane back to Czechoslovakia soon.
Refused to play the 2nd/3rd periods in the first game against Asiago, only played the first period of the second game and pulls out injured, then pulls out before the start of the Hull game injured again.
Poor show so far from our supposed tough guy !!!

It seemed a bit of a struggle against a Hull side without Tendler tonight in a game with a fast pace. For long periods Panthers were on the penalty kill with CN and Beckett the main culprits and KWall making good saves. The break came when Gallivan lifted the puck over the Hull netminder Bowns after a good move and then a patient build up led to a goal from a central position for Bruce Graham. In between a goal for Stingrays was cancelled out. Valecko rifled in a goal from a central position and then a two on two situation led to Silverthorn taking his goal well. In the end after a lot of pressure Francis and Gallivan rescued the win. Gallivan looks a very handy replacement in the 9 shirt for DAB, while Ling showed dashes of quality and Werner earned his no nonsense tag. Tuma did not ice, but hopefully will return soon.

Thanks the update phil. Just came on to see the score ... Very pleased with a 4-2 win. We may look as if we struggled but that was understandable for a relatively new team together. For our first game I'm glad it was against hull and not any of our conference. What were the lines by the way ?

And steelers lose 4-2 against Cardiff is a bonus. Was it league or Cc League. Apparently Derebound, Sarich and Legue stunk.

Not a great game, two late strikes got the win. Hope they improve.

Refused to play the 2nd/3rd periods in the first game against Asiago Hang on a minute... that's a bit harsh, isn't it? He has a nightmare trip here (car crash included) and apparently gets here at about the time of the anthems... and he's expected to play later in the game? That would be a bit of an ask for a crucial game, much less a 'nothing' pre-season challenge match. Anyway - he wouldn't be on the game sheet, would he - so would he even have been allowed to play?

Just back from Hull.
I enjoyed the game tonight.
Panthers fans probably equalled the Stingrays in number which was worrying from a Hull perspective.
Bowns looks a great pick-up for Hull. He's a proper unit too. Tendler was absent (probably baking a cake).
Foxy looks like he was carrying on from last season and Franny had another terrific game.
Referees were uselss.
Very good win for Panthers against a very tough to beat Stingrays team.
Tough guy wise, Ryan Hand did nothing but get put on his arse, twice.

What has being a tough guy, got to do with missing a game with a groin strain? As most of us already know he didn't play in the first game because he wasn't here in time, and missed the second and third period of the second game with afore mentioned groin strain, nothing like giving your own guys a break huh.

Just got back (after calling in the pub for a quick one) spot on BigLad, only worry is the lack of speed in our defence, could get caught alot on breakaways. Otherwise ok for our first competitive game.

Suppose GREEN (not Gospel) as back up?

Does anyone know if Stars netminder played against Blaze ?
Stars took Blaze to penalties before losing but if they managed to do that with a backup all credit to them.
(Asking this because I saw on the OS that Stars netminder has been clear to play against us )

Stingrays will be very competitive this season, they were extremely hard working tonight and had Tendler been in the line up a couple more of their chances may have come to fruition.
On another positive Bowns looks like he could be a fantastic signing. Well worth the trip to the most versatile arena.

I stand corrected on bowns!
Good result, but let me get this right.... Panthers played a team with a genuine tough guy and there was no fight, we won, and no one got injured by him? Amazed!

I heard Tuma had quite a bad groin injury and I was suprised that it was even mentioned that he might play. Perhaps it was that he really wanted to play and it was Panthers who thought that it might be better that he shouldn't. To jump to early conclusions about someone is somewhat premature. As has been pointed out he had a nightmare drive, which would not have been helped. Hopefully he will be on ice soon and fully fit, so an accurate assessment on how good he is can be made.

I can't understand why Tuma waited till the last sec to arrive, especially with that drive! He should have planned to arrive at least a week earlier.
