I'd be up for this and maybe bring three or four along too. Saw the trailer on tv last night. Like the look of it and if it's for charity then even better

I'm afraid it's not looking great. Will explain in greater detail when I get home.

So yeah, the distributor has basically said no. Not been given a reason why. Now everything has gone digital you use a code to release the film, each cinema has the option to use one code before release date just to check there are no issues with sound,picture...etc.
Usually this is used for staff showings but for some reason we aren't even being allowed this. Totally unsure as to why, the last time this happened what for the Inbetweeners, the reason that time was because it was feared it would increase the risk of piracy.
So yeah, I tried and failed. Sorry guys. I did show the manager who deals with this sort of thing this thread and he was quite impressed with the show of interest. So we were talking and one idea we came up with would be during the playoff finals weekend(maybe the friday night) we put on a private showing of a hockey film. Be it Goon, Slapshot, Mighty Ducks...whatever. Or even a game DVD.

Pity they won't let you do it, but thanks for trying.
The finals weekend idea is a good one... make it "Slapshot" and you'd better tell your manager to reserve the biggest screen for it - and be prepared for a sell-out!

Thanks for trying Stratty. You may not have been able to wrangle an advanced screening but there is nothing to stop us still organising a forum meet-up. ...make it "Slapshot" and you'd better tell your manager to reserve the biggest screen for it - and be prepared for a sell-out! "Putting on the foil, every game...."

Even if it was a popular showing I still think there would be plenty of empty blue seats. Steelers fans would feel right at home.

Screw cineworld, book the Broadway for the playoff, better location, better cinema and you can take beer in.

Are we still sponsored by the corner house??? Well done again to the giants org Sponsored by the Cornerhouse, not Cineworld. Panthers players and management get two free tickets a day(each) from Cineworld but Cineworld get nothing in return. I can confirm that we have on numerous occasions tried to improve the relationship with the Panthers but GM has been less than accommodating to proposals...he doesn't return calls or respond to emails after initial contact. Goon will be showing in screen 6, one of the smaller screens so it isn't expected to be popular.

Not seen this yet but a Mon hockey fan at work told me its really good. If bought as a region 1 DVD from Amazon or such sites from Internet , do they now play on our updated players or are we just region 2 (European) .....

Depends on your player Spik, some are multi-region but others are still region locked.

It won't play on any blu ray player due to them having something built into which will only play region 2. But cheapish dvd players should be fine, you can change them from region 1 (u.s.) to region free ( 0 ) look on the Internet as there will be 4 digit codes to imput based on the make and model of your player

There is also anot her film on netflix to do with ice hockey called the last gladiators. It's ok but if I remember right it's more like documentary style. Some of you might be interested in.

Seen both. Goon is good for the entertainment factor, The Last Gladiators is good in another sense as it tells of the experiences of an enforcer in the first hand, as mentioned it's documentary style but still worth watching.
