given recent outputs, i don't think they will be missed, hugely influential in the 90's not so much these days.

One of my favourite bands, was very surprised to hear the news. But as already been said, last couple albums not been amazing like prior offerings. Bill Berry (ex drummer for REM) was very influential in the song writing, and when he left during the making of the album 'UP' in the late 90's, it just seemed like they started running out of ideas. Still, a shame nonetheless. had the privilege of seeing them a few times live.
