Cardiff Sign NHL'er

THOMSON Cardiff Devils are excited to announce their final signing of the 2004-05 season. Today Dave Whistle has finished negotiations and can confirm the signing of San Jose Sharks defence Rob Davison.
Davison was selected by San Jose in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft (4th Round, 98th overall) but didn’t ice for the NHL outfit until the season of 2002-03.

Following the trading of Bryan Marchment, the San Jose Sharks recalled defenseman Rob Davison from AHL club Cleveland

At that time Davison had four points and 82 penalty minutes in 42 games with Cleveland.

Born May 1, 1980, St. Catherine's, Ontario, the 6'3", 220lbs defence man is not afraid to mix it up but is also solid on the blue line and puts in some awesome body checks.

Davidson is booked on a flight and should be in Cardiff Friday ready to take on the Steelers Saturday night.



Very very excited about this guy, Whistle has finally completed the jigsaw here in cardiff and i cant wait to see him rough up Peron on Saturday!!!

Great Signing.
Played 790 mins for the Sharks last season with 85 of those being short handed and only 7 on the PP.. So he looks to be Defensively minded.
Is this just during the lockout because on his ESPN profile, it said this
"The Sharks maintained their commitment to young D, signing Jim Fahey and Rob Davison on July 30 (2004). Terms were not disclosed.
Have they now let him go completely?

The only problem with this signing is of course if he has to go back at christmas time, and technically we have two D men at the moment lol with Becker and Stone getting ijured on the weekend. Romanuick and Matsos can help out on D but we are better when they are on the wing.

I am currently on cloud nine with the Devils this year and this signing is just the tip of the ice berg, if only we could have brought Jeff Ulmer back aswell. or am i now just being greedy ;D

You are being VERY greedy! ;D ;D

Don't blame you for being on cloud nine - Devils are looking really good just now - and we all know what Whis is capable of.

Half of me is chuffed to see a good Devils team back and doing well.... the other half of me is in the corner sulking... ;D

Great hit, but don't you just know that a hit like that in our league, with our reffing, would instantly be called as a 2+2 for Interference. Particularly if it were perpetrated by a certain JC!!!
