From the rumours going around the arena I don't think Corey leaving is a given. I was told he's back next season and due to where the rumour has come from I'm confident to say he'll definitely be our coach next year. I don't have a problem with it but I imagine a lot will. At least we're trying something a little different and actually sticking with a coach for the medium term.

I wonder where the 70% went from that poll we had on here?

It would not surprise me but I would be surprised if its not on very different terms, basically reduced wage with only one target for the season. but i am dreading next year if true, not because I think we will be a rubbish team just because I think we will have a really boring team going on what I have seen toward the end of this year in the style we are playing

Heja, you make a good point in the Giants game thread in Talk Hockey:-It's beginning to look like the combination of Neilson & Strachan is getting to that middle ground... Strachan is more defensively orientated, and that appears to have had an effect. If they keep the bulk of the team we have now, and If they recruit the few replacements carefully... next season could be a big improvement. Possibly. But Nick has a point... would junking what we've got now and starting all over from scratch really be a better idea? It hasn't worked before... Definitly, I would swap Clarke for weaver in an instant I would probably give them Clarke and Levers for weaver. I couldn't disagree more. Don't be blinded by the reputation of Weaver... he's good, he's very good... but even so, he's far from perfect (just like Clarkie, eh? ). Weaver's defensive frailties have been criticised by Coventry fans on many an occasion - and they'd know better than us.

If we win the playoffs Cory will have shown improvement on last year, you can't get rid of a guy that keeps showing improvement. The GMB are our main sponsors I'm sure a union would have a field day if you sacked someone who keeps showing improvement.
In my eyes that's a good thing and continue that improvement though to next year and you have to expect the grand slam, nothing less.
Go on Cory, keep going!

Problem is, 70% on here probably equates to about 50 people max, some of whom don't even attend games anymore. Not the 4000 there last night.

There were more than 50 people in our average crowd who'd had enough of Neilson, they even stopped announcing the players individually for a time, presumably for fear of the reaction. Even Bill thought he'd go in the summer. Quite a change from that to an extended contract. Nice trophy and January never happened.

Go on Cory, keep going! only thing is he would not be sacked, he just would not be signed in the first place. Also he has not shown improvement, he has gone backwards, I believe we were closer to winning the league last year than this year. I believe that he will be offered a contract all be it a reduced contract, just like Mike Ellis got offered after his second season, it will then be his choice if he takes the reduced offer or goes somewhere else.

Sadly watching the awards farce last night, i came to the conclusion that people who care about winning the league are in the majority in the cage but are a very small minority in the arena, first we get the look at Jade he scored the goal that won the cup vomit inducing speech by Moran, then we get Corey bigging up GM the GM as well, like some old boys club.
In reality we have gone backwards on and off the ice, the discipline is non existent, the tactics only improved with the arrival of Rick, people still think it is ok to have a team of wannabee tourists who fit in the ice hockey in between all the other Nottingham's (dubious) delights.
In the league we are worse than last year, we won the challenge cup great but that sadly will fool many into thinking everything is great.
If not getting to the playoff finals guarantees we get rid of Corey, I would happily support Braehead in the playoff finals, short term misery yes, but perhaps long term a good result for our future.

You say the tactics have only improved because of Rick and yet you also say earlier is your post that we have done worse than last year. I'd argue it's just as likely that we came out of our slump after Kowalski had returned to full fitness and form than the introduction of a new bench coach. I doubt many actual fans will be under any illusion that things are "great" and to be honest you can't have any idea what discipline is like unless you work within the organisation, your just making an assumption. Yes we have once again missed out on the big one but we have won the CC and are still in contention for the PO's. If CN leaves at the end of the season then I won't be gutted but if he signs on for another year I'll also be quite happy. Had Kowalski not been injured for so long I genuinely think we'd of been up there with the other three and this season has hardly been a disaster. I'd be happier to see the management team freshened up than the coaching staff to be honest. The awards ceremony was cringeworthy and like has already been said on several occasions the club seems to have reached a point where it is now standing still.

3 people told me last night Corey is back next season. 1 sponsored him last season. Gutted if I'm honest, his nose was so far up GM's hairy bum last night it was embarresing

Wow, someone sign me up to that mind-reading course some of you appear to have been on... I mean - how you can divine a person's thoughts and motivations from a few words over a muffled PA (come on, NIC - sort that out!) - it's completely beyond mere mortals like me!

The PA was awful on Saturday. Half of the time the speakers that were on for the back half of block 15, the other they were off. Even when GM was speaking during the oscars it was in and out

Corey is pretty much nailed on as coach next season. We won't shell out for a decent experienced coach. So it's Corey or a rookie. Meh.
Give Bruce another season at the Clan then bring him in when we finish 4th again next season

We can always do what steelers think might happen and nick Ben Simon, yes he inherited a very good (even though expensive) squad but he had them playing as a team and consistency is the key to winning a league title as he has just proved...
