I am pleased to announce that the HOSNIC cup will be making a return to the ice starting this Saturday. In each period break at the Sheffield Arena a 3 on 3 mini game will take place and this week as a demo players from the Sheffield Rec scene will ice and play the games.
Over the coming weeks when a team visits the arena for a Saturday night game a team made up of their fans will also come to take on the Steelers fans team in the period breaks. This will be run as a mini fans league and at stake will be the HOSNIC Cup, currently on vacation on a mantle piece in Nottingham. WE WANT OUT CUP BACK! and starting on the 25 against a team of Caps fans our mission to reclaim the trophy begins.
Jono will be running the Panthers team for here and I hope you will give your Panthers fans team loud vocal support for their HOSNIC Cup opener at the HOS on Boxing Day.
Can any players wanting represent any Elite league team please email hosnic.cup@gmail.com with their details please. You must be novice to intermediate standard please and Rec registered.
Brent Pope at the Devils has thrown the full weight of the club behind this and has insisted that his fans team are fully affiliated with the club. I will be contacting all the other teams in the hope they too will support this event and allow their fans teams to be named and badged as 'The Panthers' for instance. We managed this for the original HOSNIC game so I hope we can expand on that.
What do you think?

During the breaks, how will the zambonis do their work if people are playing on it at the same time?

In each period break a mini game, 3 on 3 - 3 minute running clock. Sort of non stop hockey style. Fast and fun I hope.
3 minutes is the time allowed at Sheffield for any on ice period entertainment. After that the ice gets resurfaced.

Nope, dont even know Jono. Does he float like tiger woods walking on water?
Also has Sheffield be able to afford 2 Zamboni's now so they dont fall behind while doing this HOSNIC thing.

No it's like the NIC skate academy thing. They get a certain amount of time and then they re surface the ice after that. And it doesnt require 2 Zambonis to do this. Nemesis has pretty much explained the procedure that will be in place in his post!

Belfast Giants now on board. Todd is a great guy.
:-)
So we have official endorsement now from the Steelers, Devils and Giants. I am waiting for a call from the Caps and the Clan but already have teams for them, just hoping they will endorse their fans teams.
Can someone PM your clubs office number please?

Don't you worry yourself about that mate. I can assure you that Steeler number 1, Steeler number 2 and Steeler number 3 will be complete unknowns. And if they look familiar, it's just your imagination. They will all be wearing Stig suits simply to put your minds at rest...... LOL

Can you play in this if you have represented an Elite League team this year? No. LOL. And don't kid yourself about skating mate. Goalies are usually the best skaters on the team. Drop me line if you are serious about giving it a go though, I can sort that for you. Anyone fancy representing the Caps in the opening game next Saturday?

The Stix will give you a chance mate. That's why were are here. I have a short waiting list at the minute but drop me a PM with your details and we can sort it for you. I will even loan you some kit to start. We train at ice Sheffield on Sunday evenings and already have a large Notts contingent as we are the only club in the region who will take complete beginners. It's what we do. :-)
