Hopefully the shut out boosts Rok for the remaining games. Huge 2 points tonight. What works best for us tomorrow? Stars win to keep everyone close or let Glasgow pull ahead and concentrate on Blaze. Dundee and Coventry are our targets now. Clan need to win in regulation against Dundee for me

I might get a bit of stick here, but I haven’t been overly impressed with Kelsall personally. I was hoping that we were going to see major improvements in his overall play this season but I don’t feel he’s been that great.
I’ll give him his credit, he has helped out and filled in on defence to support the team, he’s stood up for teammates and that takes a lot of guts, he’s even scored a few nice goals this season.
Overall though, I think he lacks size and physicality and he’s quite a slow skater. Even if he’s playing 4th line I feel he should be bringing more energy and making more of a nuisance of himself. I notice regularly he’ll lay a hit without any real impact and their defence will break out easily or he’ll often chip a puck in and not pursue it or put the opposition under pressure.
Maybe I’m being harsh, and there’s obviously tactics and instructions we aren’t privy to, but I just feel we need to see more from him. He needs to flourish and develop, in a similar way that Ollie did, if he’s going to be the player we need him to be

Until it's mathematically impossible, there is still some hope. Million to one shots come in once in a while Not that I'm confident at all that we can actually do it, and it's a hell of a long shot, but as it stands, hope springs eternal. As the great poet L. Kravitz opined, it ain't over 'til... Doesn't make me a happy clapper, but 3.4 seconds was enough time once upon a time. 8 points could be enough. Looking at run in’s it’s certainly possible that Clan and/or Blaze might struggle to get more than 2 more points, which would leave all three teams on 49 points and Panthers squeaking through on regulation wins. I think Dundee, and like you’ve pointed out a few times, Coventry, are the ones to aim for. We have to win our remaining games though, which means pressure, especially when we’re short. The fans will be behind them all the way I’m sure

We'd have to win 5 on the bounce with half a d-core and a goalie shipping goals. We have to win our remaining 5 and hope results go our way else where. Bearing in mind we’re on a 5 game losing streak now, it’s looking very bleak unfortunately. Really hoped we could pull it out the bag

Otto is a terrific player, we have to be doing our all to bring him back. He’s probably had his time in Finland and he’s played at similar levels to the EIHL in the last couple of seasons, plus we’ve managed to tempt him to Nottingham so I don’t see why he wouldn’t contemplate a return.
Give him a pay rise and see if an MBA is attractive to him

Considering we're a 1 import D at the moment to be just a goal down is a great effort. Agreed, the boys have really picked it up, huge credit to them

Didn’t manage to get back to my seat for the start of the 2nd period but just watched the goals back and my god how poor was Rok on Sheffield’s 1st goal. Huge point in the season Robinson leaving, if we would have brought someone else into the club after that it might have changed our fortunes…

Might be over reacting a bit, just don’t see the need for the p*as taking. Especially after they’ve been quiet for 50 mins and they’ve suddenly gone 2 goals in front. 13 league defeats in a row against them, quite fed up tbh It’s September 2022 since Panthers last beat the Steelers according to the EIHL pre game report. (League only presumably) That’s an utterly pathetic record from Panthers ! That was in the cup I believe, I reckon it was March 2022 when we last beat them in the league. It’s a pivotal off season for the club, as DMS has talked about, we have to be ruthless

I think this design, and the one last season, work with the current sublimated style we have. I do wish we’d go back to a stitched style, or at least a style where the badge can be sewn on, in the future.
I do like this one though. Good choice by the club.

Did anyone else think that Roy looked like he was skating through treacle last night? Is he carrying a knock, or a cold or something? I don’t think he looked slow but I can’t recall him attacking Sheffield’s defence with speed, like he would normally, and he was hardly ever passed Sheffield’s goal line battling for the puck. I wondered whether it was tactical, protect the defence as much as we can, tell the centre’s not to go to deep so we don’t get picked off from turnovers that lead to odd man rushes. This week of rest SHOULD do the players some good. Hopefully Otto can keep his hot hand, he’s been immense lately. Him and Roy would slot into any team in this league

If Sheffield win tonight, and they get a regulation win in Cardiff on Wednesday, they will be league champions based on the regulation wins they have and Cardiff being unable to match them. Is that correct?

Unfortunately I feel Paredes will leave at the end of the season, you get the impression the situation has taken its toll on him. But I do agree with you though, you have to give a coach time/ numerous seasons to build a team. If Paredes does want to stay and try and building something then great, if not, where do we look? Bruce Richardson maybe? Bruce has had his time in this league, is building a very nice career for himself after his time in the QMJHL and now in the junior ranks of the team Canada set up, coming back to the EIHL would be a massive career regression for him. Agreed, it probably would be a strange move for Bruce in his current position. I’m probably just looking back with rose tinted glasses and reminiscing slightly. I like the idea of a team being built and led by Bruce Richardson in Nottingham though

How many coaches come in and see it click in their first season? Before a puck was dropped this season, many were laughing that Steelers coach was still employed. They have stuck with him, added year on year and have reaped the rewards. Parades has a good record over time, and can be forgiven for this year given the AJ situation. His stock was / is still high after his record in France to improve teams over time. Go for an overseas coach again and you have to give them a season (or two) to create any serious impact. Unfortunately I feel Paredes will leave at the end of the season, you get the impression the situation has taken its toll on him. But I do agree with you though, you have to give a coach time/ numerous seasons to build a team. If Paredes does want to stay and try and building something then great, if not, where do we look? Superb battling from the team tonight, really unlucky not to get the win then.
We set up and were solid at the back for the majority, the defenceman were superb in the board battles and as a team we played that the right way up and down the ice. If we would have setup this way throughout the season, then we might have had a bit more success tbh.
Steelers weren’t to their usual standard though, their aggression and usual pace wasn’t their and the amount of times they mis-controlled the puck was encouraging. We didn’t capitalise on what we did create missing two clear open nets, Welsh’s missed chance was astonishing. We were desperately unlucky in OT as well, Lunjsö found some space behind and rifled it off the bar.
Disappointed straight after the game, but looking at it now, a point is a good result

This is going to be tough. If I’m coach I don’t see why we don’t give Anderson a shot on defence Or Sheldon in goal. Without meaning to disrespect Luca, I think it would be an insult to the travelling fans if we started him in this game, we’re still clinging on by a thread to our playoff hopes, Rok is our starter and he needs to turn up. If Rok has a bad performance though and Sheffield run up a lead, then I would give Luca some ice time. The same as we should have done on numerous other occasions this season

This is going to be tough. If I’m coach I don’t see why we don’t give Anderson a shot on defence We certainly wouldn't be losing much point production on a forward line if we did. My thinking exactly, he’s offered little going forward this season. He’s a good skater imo, why not give him a a shot right now whilst we’re desperate? If we’re willing to put Kelsall there why not the same with Anderson?

If you believe the culture of the club is the reason why we’ve struggled and have ended up languished in last place then I think you’re being unfair. The team have been through something catastrophic and unfortunately it has affected the professional relationship between them all. Nothing is normal for the team, what we expect from the coaches, in terms of motivation and leadership, doesn’t seem to be there when you watch them on the bench. I know your opinions on the club, as well as how long you’ve been watching hockey. Surely you can see that nothing is normal, there have been so many difficulties for the club to navigate. The club’s culture isn’t the cause of all of this I was sort of hoping the tradegy would have galvanised the group and they rallied and if anything punched above their weight and go on and achieve something if not for themselves but for Adam So did I, we all did. The good times will be back though
