Panthers have just been completly done as far as I can see on the webcast. Shot from Blaze deflects up into the net. Ref signals its gone out play. Blaze players suggest its gone through the net and then gone up so the ref gives a good goal. Signals a review. They come put and give the goal. No idea if they got a different replay this time from a working systwm. The Webcast replay looked to be a clear crossbar and out to me.

2 2. Panthers wont be happy. It was the Gagnon penalty and the non Blaze penalty for the review that would've seen it go 4 on 4.

Blaze called for a review on a goal. Looks very much like the tech didnt work. So no goal but also no penalty.

2 1 with 4.33 left in the 1st. Sorensen and 94(PP). Refs missing a few calls I rekon, then calling Gagnon for interference on a play you see a dozen times a game bit never gets called.

Obviously I’m aware of the wage cap but it must have passed me by when it was introduced. When did it come in and how much were the big clubs spending roughly in comparison before? I think it was brought in for the start of last season, there was a Kelman interview and he gave those cap figures. Teams had to spend at least £8k minimum but can spend up to £12.5k maximum. Not sure on previous spends, but I’d bet some teams were top side of £20k. And last season the same stories of brown envelopes at certain clubs continued to appear. Wage caps are a farce at this level. Brown envelope here, overpayed office job for a wag there. Completely unmanagable. If there is one thing I could perhaps see a defence for Blacky it's this. Perhaps, just maybe he sticks to the agreed wage cap whilst others dont. Would explain our squad looking behind others, even if more expensive than others.

There’s no glaring reason why they couldn’t join with today’s lowly wage cap spend of minimum £8k and maximum £12.5k when Manchester, Fife and Dundee all survive on meagre crowds. Good point, I forgot about the wage cap. If there’s going to be expansion then it has to make sense geographically and in turn financially. If Leeds made the jump and potentially Hull we’d have 12 teams, then you could revert back to a genuine conference setup, something like: Belfast Dundee Glasgow Fife Leeds Hull Manchester Sheffield Cardiff Coventry Guildford Nottingham Play each team in your conference 6 times a season, 18 games in conference, and all the other teams 4 times a season, 32 games out of conference. That would give a 50 game league season. Whilst the league remains the most important competition then a conference system will never be widely accepted by the fans. For a fair league champion it has to be an even amount of games v everyone. The conference system is an acceptable set up in North America as the play offs are obviously more important. If we ever got to a much expanded play offs then Conferences could be more accepted. The chance of that happening though is tiny. Sheffield and Nottm would never be split and Belfast couldn't be allowed that advantage.

I need a bit of help on Matt Myers’ two minute cross checking penalty in the third. He clearly drew blood but only got two minutes. Why not 2+2? Are they only called on high sticking penalties that draw blood? The less said about the reffing on the play the better. The ref stood right next to the incident clearly shook his head in a ‘nowt wrong with that’ fashion whilst the other ref, stood some distance away with the net (and probably a player or three) blocking his view, put his arm straight up despite not knowing at that time that blood had been drawn. And then the penalty was called as cross checking and not high sticks! That call was bizarre,as you said the refs clearly disagreed with each other. I think the closer ref didn't call it because he'd seen the guy cross check Myers first. Myers went back in relatiation. I was furious at the time. How a ref 6ft away shook his head, yet the other at half way with the obstructions described above in the way managed to see it. The blood was bizarre as the cross check from Myers appeared quite low on the body.

Dubeau is undoubtedly better than Berry imo, just look at the goals tonight and any fan should agree the same. I’m pleased for Welychka though, he’s one of the shining lights this season I agree. Neither are good enough but Debeau at his best is comfortably better than Berry. Since his ban Debeau has also managed to keep his emotions largely in check to. His main problem is that he struggles to go an entire game without at least 1 soft goal. He was outstanding in Sheffield for example, right until their massive 1st goal with less than a minute left in the 2nd. Both average but they are at different possitions on that average scale.

And people will still argue Berry is better than Debeau. They’re both very average Indeed.

Ah, Twitter, populated by people who listen to reason and change their minds accordingly. 😂😂😂 Yep And people who hadn’t seen the video but were swearing blind that the refs were being paid by Sheffield, they were bent awful refs and that it was a terrible decision that cost Panthers the game. You gotta laugh. 🤣🤣🤣 Ive seen all the video and its still a bad call. His skate is arguably just in the crease(being in the crease itself isn't definative any more anyway). The goalie attempts a poke/block and initiates the contact, then acts dramatically.

The Christmas round of games about to be finished off perfectly for Sheffield. Manchester just gone 5 4 up in the 3rd. If they hold on to complete the double over the flames it'll leave Steelers just 1 point off the top.

didnt go Bagheera as we have been here so many times before... as Mark said Panthers delivering their usual christmas fayre.... however refs in the EIHL have been on par with the panthers team for as long as panthers have stunk at xmas.... As for steelers if you ask me shows the difference between investing in players who can deliver and those who cant... Ciampini was destined to become the best player in the league and it seems he knows it, they were pencilled in as having one of if not the tightest defence in the league backstopped by most thought potentially the best two keepers in the league and stats dont tend to lie.... As for panthers defence and keepers... done on the cheap and boy has it shown.. hasnt really helped that players havent been brought in either but again that stinks of penny pinching... You wont catch me arguing with much of that. I'm well aware and largly on the same page when in comes to Panthers penny pinching. But at times I like to comment purely on what ive seen.

Not interested in any debate. I dont really care what mistakes Panthers ended up making that game was decided by the officials.
The first goal should have stood. The refs ego stopped them over turning it. That moment waw huge. The 3rd goal was on the same passage of play without a whistle as a blatent high stick on Hammond. The 5th was an interference in the Steelers end, although most fans had given up by then to notice.
Yesterday we lost because we didnt capitalise on our early domination and Steelers did Steelers. Tonight we lost because EIHL refs did EIHL refs.

Yes but it was a fudging joke. Video review and you can still find a goalie interference in that As much as I really hate the Steelers it was the right call on the goalie interference. No it wasnt

2 in a minute again. 0-2 towards the end of the second. Looks like we managed to take a penalty asking for a review, is that a rule now? Yes but it was a fudging joke. Video review and you can still find a goalie interference in that

Panthers do the most Panthers thing possible and take a to many men call with 1m30 left on the clock and 3 2 down. Killed any chance off.
Played out to usual Chistmas in Sheffield script.

Just as I was thinking Debeau was starting to make some of us think about eating our words he gifts Sheffield an in. At the worst time possible too. Less than a minute left in the 2nd period. The type of goal that always turns these games around. Panthers have dominated the game which included Debeau making some very good saves.
A flat game to say the least though. 1 minor penalty so far and that was a soft call. Not even an ounce of spice.

The streak continues. Let's see what Christmas brings. Will it be a continuation of the upturn in form, or back to reality?
Myers, Puffer and Anderson are starting to look better which is useful as it doesnt appear any changes are forth coming.
Cant argue with what Corey has acheived during this stint bit I do find myself conflicted. He has things working well, including Kelsall and Ricci on D. This does mean however that Hazeldine and Hopkins are getting 0 ice time. Considering we have 2 forwards playing D and how well Hazeldine performed for us it's quite frustating to see him benched. The results are there though so it's just a case of trusting in the plan.

Not at all.. he was utter garbage and I was saying he was the problem and all I kept seeing was we signed crap players in the summer ... Come off it Pidge. You were purring like the rest of us in September and before. THIS TEAM IS NOT SHORT OF GOALS Remember that one? No mention of any “crap” at that stage at all. We were all a fair way off the mark. It happens. While I’m on, anyone else think Brady’s carrying a knock, his skating is quite laboured at times lately? I didn't notice Brady. I thought that of Welsh though. He had a bit of a stinker to be honest. One of those you get away with as a forward. No damage done and it was more laughable than anything, but appeared to fluff almost every attempt he had on goal. I did also notice Hazeldine and Hopkins not being utilised though. I think overall Corey made a good call there. Theyd just played 5 games in a week, the team had hit some form with the line up as it was and they obviously hadn't been practicing with the team all week. Perhaps if any players had any knock of concern theyd have been rested late on and those 2 got some shifts. He certainly could have rested 1 and slotted Levin in on 1 set line, running just 3 for the night.

Was a little dissapointed the intensity had dropped from the last 3 or 4 games. Was almost like a training session for large periods. That and the Shane Owen show again. It's a game we would have lost for most of this season so far though. The difference is that they are now drilled well enough for the quality to come through. Corey and Rick have done a great job of getting this team organised. At least we can now feel confident that with just 1 or 2 additions this team could at least compete for the 2 cups.Going to have to happen soon then. At least for the Challenge Cup. After the first leg against the Giants I see no reason we can't at least get to the final. Things are looking up with what we have now and the 2nd leg isn't until after Christmas. Ideally we will see 1 or 2 additions by then too.
