Have we now qualified in this comp or is this still worth going to? i recall reading that the Hull win meant we had qualified but haven't heard anything about it since the win... or have i completely missed something somewhere?

we didn't beat hull in the CC. we drew with them.
We need points from this game to secure qualification.

Cov need to win all three away games to qualify. Car need need two wins out of three to qualify and that includes games with us and Cov
We need to lose to Cov and Cardiff to pretty much blow our good start in the competition.

Oh yes i remember now... the CC score was based on the result up to 60 mins and the League element was based on the final result (after OT). was in two minds-as love Coventry fan games but if we had qualified i was considering not bothering (as not much to play for). will give it a go now so many thanks for the info/reminder

As long as the Panthers are committed to win (unlike the performance in the 20/20), which they will be if this game still counts (and I hope they would be committed anyway, irrespective) then it will be worth watching us beat Coventry after our loss last week.
Put me down for a 3-2 win (being optimistic).

Interesting line from the coach in the Post:
"The Challenge Cup is one of the ones we want to win and we will be going for it."
Perhaps a teensy bit of an unwise choice of words, 20/20 wise?

I think what was meant is that 'one of the ones we want to win' implies that there are those they dont want to win.
I think until they have cemented a competition in the the same format for a few years and its not seen as hockey 'lite', i.e. its proper games, cos lats face it, we'd all rather see that itll always be:
League Playoffs CC
in that order importance for me and I assume many other fans

And your fans are behind your Corey, lets make this year count and show the others that the 20/20 was insignificant

Nope, it's not on the ST.
This isn't the one that's not covered though, think that's December time, this one's Challenge Cup only so it would always be extra.

Big bounce back for us after last weeks defeat, 4-1 to us, but they will have 2x as many shots on goal. KSP for mom, and I will have steak and kidney pie and chips before the game.. ;D
After Saturdays performance, put me down for 8-3 to the Blaze.

I'll be taking a day off from the game of hockey. With this next game being a payer (ST or not) it's time for me to take a 'time-out'. Glad I arranged a trip to see my girlfriends grandchildren, in yorkshire even. Hope it turns out well but a CC game that means nothing and who will be playing?

Means nothing ? A game that if we were to lose, would mean we would probably need at least a point from our last game with Cardiff.
We havn't qualified yet.

So if we lose, we might need to get a point at home against a team who are normally rubbish at the NIC to get through to the semi-finals of a competition that has been devalued a lot in the last few years to the extent that last years final was a farce. And why are we bothering to take this seriously and not the hockeyfest? Surely it is all about the league ... oh sorry we need to sell tickets.

quite simple Hit Em Hard, Hit EM FAIR, and Score more than them job done, although tripping up Ken as he gets on the ice in the second break may improve his quiz!

Actually the biggest thing we need to do is to stop taking stupid bloody penalties. The reason we are the most penalised team is not because refs have it in for us, but because our guys take penalties. The coach is the prime example of this.
