well if the details in the star are anything to go by ( see other thread about that ) simms really must be worried as he has asked for the games to be played as 2 x 20 min periods as it will cut down on ice rental times. and the shorter games testerday attracted more fans. man they really must be struggling. i know lets change the whole league to help one seemingly struggling team. didnt see them doing too much to help the bison or phoenix last season. in fact if aremember it was simms who try'd kciking them when there were down. lets hope the league throws this stupid idea out instantly. rant over . Now thats the post of the year!!!!

Sack Reiter when he is out injured then? Nice move if they do. No starting netminder is coming on a short term contract. That no way to treat members of your family! ;D

Is Verner cover until Reiter recovers or is he a permanent signing?

Verner is a good aquisition for the Steelers but it has been well documented by Steelers fans that netminding isn't one of their problems this season.

It'll be interesting to see what Matsos does now. Rumour is we will only be signing one more player so, what will he do? Will he drop Sarich back onto D permanently and bring in a forward, or leave Sarich up front and bring in a D man. Interesting times.

verners not going to solve anything for them, if i was them i would just save the money and play Dan Green (who looked pretty good at the weekend) and just look for top quality out skaters and when reiter is fully fit again bring him back.

Is Verner cover until Reiter recovers or is he a permanent signing? I guess it depends on the extent or Reiter's injury and how well Verner does.

We know netminding is not a problem and if Reiter was only going to be out for 1-2 weeks then yes play Green, yes he was superb on Sunday. However, it looks like Reiter maybe out for 8 weeks or so, so unfortunately it means we do need to bring in a nettie. Would you be happy if St Pierre got injured, and wasn't replaced and you had to play your back up for 8 weeks, an 8 weeks that could make or break your season?? No, you wouldn't! There is a difference between being thrown in at deep end with no opportunity to worry about it (like Sunday,) than having a week to think about the fact that you'll be in net against Coventry on Saturday night.

I believe the defence will improve if we move Sarich back, afterall he was the best in the league last season and then sign a new forward.

Well don't quote me then! My apologies... I was just 'following on' from what you were saying, rather than aiming anything directly at yourself. I should have made it clearer.

Basiuk is here for the season anyway, as he's on the University deal. I guess it depends on how long Basiuk is out for, shoulder injuries can take a lot of rehab. How Hutchins is after his concussion... If another player gets injured. It's all ifs and buts, a decision that can't and won't be made for at least 6 weeks.

Is there a mandatory stand down for concussion? I thought it was a minimum 7 days with 14 recommended but don't quote me on that one.
