Ok, so it seems that the other thread I started a few days ago has illustrated that there is some considerable support for a better entrance onto the ice for our boys in Black and Gold. To that end i've started this thread to outline some plans to at least attempt to pull together the resources we the fans have and can use to make that 'better entrance' a reality.
Initially i'd like to gather as many audio clips, video clips and stills of significant parts of Panthers history as possible to give a pool of material from which something can be arranged.
My intention is to use those to come up with one, maybe a couple of proposed entrance sequences which i'll initially get various people across the full demographic of Panthers fans to review and comment. Once that initial review, comment and subsequent reworking of the piece is complete i'll get it out for full review from all and sundry, probably with an accompanying set of survey type questions which will allow for some statistical analysis on what we've come up with and what the thoughts are.
An important point to make, at this stage, is that I intend that we come up with something that works as an audio entrance in isolation from the video as this will negate the problem of there currently being no facility to project that video on a gamenight.
Finally it is my proposal that we use contacts within the club to approach them in a professional manner with the finished piece of work as a proposal for use.
To answer a few questions before they arise (please feel free to post more):
This is a waste of time isn't it, what's the point?
Honest answer is maybe this will not achieve the goal it's setting out to, maybe we end up with a nice Panthers sequence on youtube and nothing more comes of it. If that's the case, so be it, but i'm of the school that says you should do all you can to make what you believe in happen, however small or trivial it may seem and however unlikely you believe it to be. In addition i'm sick of moaning about things and not offering anything to change them!
How will you approach Panthers, they are notoriously dismissive of fanbase originating ideas?
That may be the overriding view but as far as i'm concerned this is a without prejudice piece of work, what's gone in the past is gone and whatever views there are of what response there might be can be put aside. I have had a couple of people contact me from the earlier thread indicating there are some routes we can take into the organisation to present this, it's my intention that we use the contacts we have as a fanbase to the greatest effect we can.
Are you doing this so you're in control, you want to be the man running with something 'big' at Panthers
No absolutely not, this is not about me and I am not someone who wants to dictate how this goes. As far as the content and makeup of the entrance goes I am going to draft something atmospheric with a nod to our history that I feel is full of the emotion that should come with that moment when our Panthers skate onto the hallowed Nottingham ice. If, however, the comments back on that work suggest a wholesale re-work is needed then so be it and i'm open to anything. I genuinely feel that this will give the club an opportunity to bond with the fans and show that we are not an afterthought, that Panthers fans are a valued part of the Panthers community not a blank cheque book.
I have set up a contact e-mail address for all responses to this where people want to get in touch direct. Feel free to post questions or comments here but please direct all offers of material, assistance etc to panthersentrance@googlemail.com
Hope to speak to a few of you soon.
