After a check to the Neck by Petricko Jeff Hutchins has been out cold on the ice now for 25 minutes. There is a paramedic car on the ice and 4 medics doing everything they can.
Reports are suggesting that he swallowed his gum shield and his tongue This is not been confirmed yet.
As a hockey community one thing we are all good at is banter and looking out for each other in times that matter.
Just hope Jeff is ok and makes a full recovery but reports from the game are not looking great and the suggestion is the game wont continue.
Hope this turns out better than it looks.

Has Petricko penalty been assessed yet? If so what did he get?
Not stirring just curious to know what the officials have called.
Just hope all's well. Nobody likes to see a serious injury to a player.

Apparently as petricko hit him he got a stick to the neck/lower head all in one ...petricko got two mins for roughing no idea who reffing but from any point a two minute roughing call is a joke...

If thats the case then Tricko will have to accept whatever comes his way. Heard Jeff was concious as he left the ice.

Petricko will need to start watching his back. He's already seriously upset D'Amour for a check from behind and now this. Add to a couple of other nasty incidents over recent seasons and it wont be long before someone leathers him.

Also many of you on here have complained about officials and the poor level of reffing, to put this into perspective the referee tonight was more worried about the fighting and getting the layers in the box and the penalties called before tending to a player who hadnt gotten up. Personally i think this is awful...

I've heard that it was a clean hit, and that it was a dirty hit from different sources.

Now only Petricko himself knows wether or not there is malicious intent with his checking or wether his timing is slightly out. However he is rapidly getting himself a bad reputation.

Can I echo the comment made by 'rangers'? Although this an internet forum and therefore not the haunt for purely factual comment isn't it a bit early to swear in the jury for the court of public opinion? Although Petricko has pervious, ice hockey is a contact sport and occassionally nasty injuries occur during perfectly acceptable play. Lets not jump on the bandwagon which uses the seriousness of the injury decide how bad the hit must have been, the facts will come out I'm sure. The most important thing is Hutchins' health at the moment.

My point about the reffing call was that no matter good or bad the hit was you cannot call roughing?

I for 1 agree. i really do hope hutchins recovers nad im sure we will hear his side of the story in time to come. and as foe petricko. noone who wasnt there can really pass comment on how he should be punished, I think the elite league seems to handle these incidents well ( just look at kozak last season ) If there is punishment to be given out lets hope its the right people that do it . however im quite happy to see d'amour get revenge for the check from behind last saturday . get well soon jeff

Regardless of this particular hit, he's got some previous.

My point about the reffing call was that no matter good or bad the hit was you cannot call roughing? but did the ref actually call anything for the hit, the roughing was probably for what happened after

My point about the reffing call was that no matter good or bad the hit was you cannot call roughing? but did the ref actually call anything for the hit, the roughing was probably for what happened after IF the hit was clean (as some sources suggest) then the referee can't call anything.
