Now for the proper stuff! Hopefully with last night's game being more about entertaining the spectators than getting the result we won't see quite such liberal interpretation of the term "defence" come Saturday!

Yes lets hope it is `unfinished business', and not `business as usual'

Not to sure about this one, we have had even less matches than the Panthers. 1 against a very below strength Vipers and an exhibition game against a team of amateurs.
Murphy didn't even dress for either of these games so it looks like Craze will be starting the season in nets. McMorrow and Cook both haven't skated with the team, Cook had a nasty accident in training so hasn't trained to much and McMorrow only arrived last Friday.
With our 4 import d and 2 brits we have a really strong looking defence so hopefully they will give Craze protection. Going forward we look really really good Faubert, Benedict, Bateman Cheverie Shields Awada all impressed albeit against limited opposition and young Peacock who has looked good in pre season scoring a couple of goals as well.
And then there is McMorrow, he says he will only fight if necessary and is here to contribute to the team on the ice, it will be interesting if Bergin doesn't play if McMorrow will put himself about and try and ruffle a few feathers ie Neilson D'Amour. If Thornton puts him in front of KSP every chance he can then we may get some success if McMorrow can draw penalties we will take that and try to use the man advantage.
Am looking forward to following TCW live lets hope for a good game.

Really looking forward to seeing if McMorrow throws himself around and if we allow ourselves to be intimidated

wednesday night confirmed to me that it was a mistake not to sign an enforcer.

Why's that? I don't think we got bullied or pushed around at all on Weds, more of an issue is Corey still taking silly penalties rather than biding his time and using some will power to rise above it. A petty hook or trip can (and frequently last season did) cost us dear, to me that is much more of an issue than us not signing an enforcer. It's about attitude and outsmarting the opposition, not just pure bullying tactics. It's not just about the size and pure enforcer power of McMorrow it's more about us allowing ourselves to be dragged into the mind games and baiting. We have more than enough players of size and willingness to drop the gloves. Who, from our current roster, would you sacrifice for an out and out enforcer? And what for, how many teams have genuine out and out enforcers, just Belfast?
It's an interesting debate but given the choice I wouldn't swap any of our imports for a pure enforcer, D'Amour and Bergy can more than hold their own.

It's an interesting debate but given the choice I wouldn't swap any of our imports for a pure enforcer, D'Amour and Bergy can more than hold their own. Why do you think Neilson is taking so many stupid penalties? He was being chipped at from the first minute on wednesday and from what I heard the same happened in Hull. Every team in the league will now know if they intimidate/target Neilson he will hand them at least a couple of power plays at some point in the game. Neilson is our coach and shouldn't be taking penalties the way he does but he's also one of our most influential players who's game will be seriously effected if he continues to be targeted, it happened last season and it's already happened beofre the league has already started this term. I really don't know how we'd fit an enforcer in but the facts are that Bergin isn't intimidating enough to do the job, D'Amour is far too good a player for us to be losing and the idea of Richardson and Neilson stepping upto the plate on even a semi regular basis is nothing short of a joke. I've got a really bad feeling that Richardson is going to try an act the tough guy a lot of the time this season and if so I'm not looking forward to cringing at the tko's and general beatings he's going to be getting.

D'Amour fighting McMorrow is exactly what Thornton will want.
Not only is McMorrow the better fighter, but trading a 3rd line forward for a 1st line D man puts us in a much better position than you.

Aye, that's the way way I see it too - hope we're both wrong! ;D I know it was a tall order but I still think this squad needs a Craighead type winger who could enforce simply by his presence whilst putting up numbers too. Losing your best Dman to fighting penalties doesn't seem smart to me.

Panthers should look to sign a "sharp" type character - i.e. a brit who can fight and if he can skate well that would be a bonus! There are a lot of good cage fighters (mma/ufc style I'm meaning btw) who live and/or train in Nottingham. I could give Corey a few names, just got to find out if any of them can skate and would be up for the challenge!
As for tomorrow's game, 5-4 to the panthers I predict, will be the first time I have seen the panthers this season so am really looking forward to the game.
I am just imagining Dan Hardy coming on for a shift in tomorrows game, going upto Mcmorrow and saying do you want some of me, and Mcmorrow running quickly back to the Giants bench scared.
Well it is currently early morning and I can't get back to sleep!

belfast playing a back up net minder (all be it a decent one) and them having a new defence.......if panthers don't win i'll be very disappointed.

I think this is going to be interesting tonight I'm hoping the panthers players just rise above any kind of intimidation by Mcmorrow and make him look like the goon he is just skating around looking for a tear up, I distinctly remember other teams doing this to Rumun last year!

Here's the new website for KOTG.. www.kingdomofthegiants.com/phpBB3/on tonight's game I think the Giants will win 4 . 2 .. McMorrow may not be playing as he has an injury at the minute.. The guy that mention Dan Hardy v McMorrow on skates.lol. Hardy would be getting his Mohawk picked up off the ice..

It's been a few years since I last posted on here... forums give me indigestion.
I still read the cage regularly though.
Here's hoping for 4-0 Panthers - a shut out to give KSP some breathing space!
