Can i ask a question about these people not happy with the latest signing? What player would people wish to see us sign, (and don t say any nhl er!!) In my case Ian I would personally liked to have seen a little more imagination from the powers that be. If Mac is the best for the money from all leagues then so be it, on his last season would you personally be happy with him as a top liner had he not a couple of good seasons here before. There must be someone new to these shores that is better, afterall Mac, Calder, Tess et al were all new to this league at some point. Mac will sell shirts, and he is proven here yes, however as I said earlier in the thread I wouldnt be happy if our top points scorer is only 10th top in the league. Or any ex NHL'er

Why take an unnecessary gamble when with Macca you know he's going to put up big points?

Frodo, are you referring to McAslan as money & lifestyle orientated? If so, explain Basically there are similarities between Jade and Sean's attitude towards non hockey related 'activities' in nottingham. For what its worth last year at times i did think if only we had someone like MacAslan playing... Hopefully we can find a centre to compliment his play and if we do i think SM could end up near triple figures.

Given that we have signed two centres already are you suggesting we sign Finnerty as Tessier's replacement to centre the first line? Or are you suggesting he should have replaced Bruce? in which case what does Finnerty bring to the team that Bruce doesn't. Or am I just missing the irony somewhere? yep you missed the irony!

Frodo, I would be willing to bet that you know nothing about McAslan perrsonally, so maybe keep your opinions hockey related

I would imagine that since Sean became a father, and another due in August, that his responsibilities at home will have increased somewhat and be of more interest to him than Ocean.

What a pathetic short sighted signing by Panthers. Can I be in Milkman- John 88 - Number 9s gang where every signing is a poor signing *wakes up from dream* Good signing Panthers HL

McAslan is a good signing on his own but alongside a top centre he would be a great signing
I think out of the last four imports we need a solid stay at home d-man and a top centre, if we get these we will be title contenders for sure

I think Sean is a good signing.
My only gripe is with some fans/the club who seem to want to have the same players every year and watch their favourites underachieve.

I think clubs are finding it easier to recruit players who know the league/clubs/country rather than bringing in new guys who just aren't attracted to Britain at present becuase of the exchange rate. Always enjoyed watching MacAslan. Quality player offensively and you know that at some stage during the game he'll be stood still watching his opposite number slotting the puck into the nest at the other end of the ice.

Can I be in Milkman- John 88 - Number 9s gang where every signing is a poor signing *wakes up from dream* Good signing Panthers HL I can't speak for the others you mention but I'm on the record as being perfectly happy with some of our signings (Richardson, Myers and the one this thread deals with). Certainly I'm indifferent to some of those we've retained (Levers, Clarke, Meyers, Bergin), unhappy about another (Toneys) and sceptical about an NM I know very little about (which seems about the right response to me, given the circumstances). There's still lots to be done before I make an early judgement on the team as a whole but I'm of the opinion that the remaining slots need to be filled by impressive players on account of the quality we've been unable to bring back from last season.

As shorty says maybe now being more of a family man has resulted in a change of attitude. Lets hope so.

I'm pleased with the signing. He numbers in his 2nd year with us are right up there.
Hopefully he will produce again.
