I'm happy enough with this signing but not overjoyed, probably because he's an old player coming back and not someone new who I'm intrigued to see.
Two points that I'm quite happy about, the first, Mac waited right until the end of the summer last time he signed trying to get another club (well at least that's what I've been told off several people) but this time he has signed very early. Hopefully meaning he will be more commited on and off the ice, we may see him give that extra couple of percent this time.
Secondly, I'm pretty sure Neilson will get a natural centre to play alongside Mac, something he has never had whilst playing in a Panthers shirt, again that might make just that little bit more productive.

As for the battery comment shame is it is also like a duracell it goes on and on and on etc, much better on ignore I find! Like I said attack the poster 'Is it is' also a shame you can't even throw together a sentence when you go sledging, I bet the Kleenex was ready though, excitable I reckon. Like you said, on the PC front, why not look further afield, this lacks ambition, the guys last season was average, what makes you think this will be better? Yes he scored goals in this league, so did Drouin, and at a higher level than Mac, again as I said, I dont like the kissing of the badge to leave the following week.

very pleased with htis signing, in a 42 game season with a natural center going by past seasons i would expect him to hit around 30-35 goals
Welcome back Supermac

Goals in 06/07....Coventry 188 Panthers 182, but we let in 20 more. However we finished 4 places and 9 leage points behind. What do we gather from this? This is a team game. These are team stats.I think the point was that as a player Sean did well in a Nottingham side who fell behind the main contenders. I'd would like to see a league table as close, for all teams, like that again.

Ermmm....okkk
He's 27/28. He got 80 points last time he was here. He wasn't a dressing room cancer.
What exactly do you want? I hear Crosby is busy.

As does Spik's comment... it's a team game. We've got McAslan, who we can reasonably expect to be a high scorer. We have Clarke, ditto. We have Kevin Bergin, who racks 'em up quite nicely. We have Bruce Richardson and Matt Myers, who are decent secondary scorers (and Marc Levers might manage that as well). And that's just the forwards... we've also got Corey Neilson who was the second-highest goalscoring D-man behind Jono Weaver last season. All this with 4 import slots left, probably 3 of which can be expected to be assigned to forwards. Now I don't know about anyone else, but that looks like a decent potential for a high scoring team. McAslan should be a significant part of the team... but only a part. I for one can't really see any negatives about his signing. At least give the guy a chance to prove whether or not he can equal - or top - his previous scoring markers.

I agree that tightening up at the back is going to be our major issue... but how about we actually wait and see what the complete defensive corps looks like before we start passing judgement on them? I have ZERO problem with having Toneys back, and all Neilson needs to do is tighten his defensive game up a bit. The heartening thing is that Danny Meyers appears to recognise that his defensive game was what needs work, and he intends to concentrate on that. Add a big hard-checking stay-at-home D-Man to that equation (instead of Ndur, who even his fans wouldn't tout as the best D-man around) and we could well be looking at a significant upgrade on last season. The key, I think, is (as usual) going to be the netminder... if St. Pierre comes up trumps, we could be laughing all the way to the trophy cabinet. We shall see...

Sean McAslan scored 79 goals and won 2 major trophies in his two seasons for the Panthers. I really don't see how that can be anything but positive!

Really please Macca is back - will be one of the marquee players in the league.
Corey now has to choose his two line mates to get the most out of someone with great scoring ability.

A proven QUALITY player at this level. Like others have said, I don't give a flying fig what he might be like off the ice, as long as he racks up the points ON the ice...it's all cool with me. Welcome back Sean!
I just now expect to hear the following track, loads next season!

the panthers are taking shape quite nicely i think, i like the signings that have been made so far There is a very potent scoring threat there in clarke, mcaslan and bergin dont forget that bruce richardson, matt myers and marc levers will be back also so when we look at it not that many positions left to fill.
The excitment is building up already but lets have summer first.

Because it has become the norm on this forum to slag off, slate denegrate and criticise for the sake of it. We could sign an AHL 1st liner, and people would still find something to moan about.

Given that we have signed two centres already are you suggesting we sign Finnerty as Tessier's replacement to centre the first line? Or are you suggesting he should have replaced Bruce? in which case what does Finnerty bring to the team that Bruce doesn't. Or am I just missing the irony somewhere?
