We were utterly, utterly useless.
I'm going to get drunk.
I blame Duncan.

I'll give some more detailed responses later, but we just didn't bother to turn up. Worst play-off final in history.

funny last year was as well, sounded like a good game from the radio, neilson and whoever decided to try and call an illegal equipment call need to take a lot of stick, ended the game two minutes early and ruined what would have a been a great chance for comeback for you guys

Just got back. I am gutted, but we didn't deserve on the performance today.
We also had the Jekyl and Hyde of Jody Lehman
One minute hes making top class saves (deserved MOM), the next hes doing his usual - having a go at players/going to the bench whenever he likes.
I have to say I was disappointed at the end by two things:
1.) Corey did not need to take the penalty with 2 mins left, it was a 3 man break away, taking one of them would not have made a difference but took us out.
2.) The call for illegal equipment, by the way Bruce was talking to Hanson I guess it was him who made the call, but I feel really embarassed about it as a Panthers fan. Bit of a cheap, desperate shot. Although if it had been called maybe I would feel differently.
One last point...
Goodbye and Good Luck to Tess, all the best.

The best team won on the day but oh my how BORING was it? 2nd year running that the final has been a snooze-fest. I was praying for no OT as I could not take anymore it was unbelievable.
Hugely disappointing after yesterday but right from the start I simply could not see where we were going to get a goal from. Here's hoping Steelers become a victim of their own success and have to rebuild a team for next year just like the blaze have.

Well it would to you. Sheffield played to their obvious strengths - defence. They absorbed everything we threw at them and when the opportunities did come our way Lehman was there. We were never going to score today. I think we'd all be absolutely thrilled to be in your boots, but it isn't the most thrilling style of hockey unless you're the team using it.

We were utterly, utterly useless. I'm going to get drunk. i must have watched a different game, difference between the teams IMHO was jodie, although I agree about the equipment call never liked that one when Ellis did it! One major complaint I wait all season to see some passion and workrate from jade and he finally produces it last game of the season what a chancer!

i thought the game was a bit odd, Best team of 2009 won the league and the playoffs certainly not the most entertaining, however, Steelers won today because they had an outstanding defence and net minder. Panthers were pretty much camped in their offence zone for the 2 period, and we just couldn't buy a goal! i agree with oldman, Jade was our energy guy today, hits, and stirring things up. good preformance from all our guys though i thought, no one can say they didn't care or put the effort in IMO, no matter how many come on here saying different. todayi was a proud panthers fan!
Corey & Bruce will put together a winning side next year i have no doubt....
Sheffield were a good team this year and deserved winners today, but with Jody filming the panthers fans leaving, Phillips, finnerty and cruikshank all teasing the panthers fans..... no one can say they weren't classy winners eh?...

Very disappointed in Steelers 'celebration' in front of us in Block 6. Not necessary to swear and do the V signs right up to the plexi. It incited the Panthers no end (not surprisingly!) and some kids near us ended up in tears with fright! Not sportsmanlike at all by the Steelers. They won fair and square - no need for Premiereship yobbery! Although the ridiculous late equipment call from our bench didn't help! It just went over the line for me.
And as for the Panthers fans who threw their beer/coke/whatever at the Steelers from the rows above us- you missed!!! My top and jacket are in the wash as I type!

about as classy as the caps fans constantly shouting abuse at robbo during P2, classless and needless, it is not as if he left them to join us they got rid first, so he was a free agent!

I didn't think we were that bad. Credit to Steelers defence. Our heads dropped when the second went in - how flukey was that one - and the failure of the stick call summed our day up. It might have been so different if one of those good chances that fell to Jade, Tess and Matt in the first period had been taken. Did anyone else think Munn's goal was offside? Never mind.

Terribly disappointed that the season ended on such a damp squib of a game and such a lacklustre showing. Take nothing away from Shuff, they did what they had to do to win,. Congratulations to them. I just thought after such good qtrs and semis that they were there to be taken today. ....And yes,.. The desperation of an illegal equipment call is an embarrasment. Hate it.

illegal equipment call is an embarrasment. Hate it. True but if it was the other way, I'm sure Sheffield would have done the same. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Very disappointed - the trophy was there for the taking today and we blew it! It was like a different team compared to what we saw yesterday. Taking silly penalities and not getting stuck in were my major gripes. But I'll give it to Sheffield they were always in our faces and had an ace defence today. They wanted it more by far. There's always next year I guess (a Panthers motto it would seem)

The gesticulations and foul language of the Steelers players towards the Panther fans was absolutely disgusting. The liney noticed what was going on and moved them onwards, How classy to celebrate winning with the opposition and not your own fans first. What was it all about. Hope the League do something about it, but then again it's Sheffield , they can do what they like. I for one am letting the league know what happened. Awful.

I agree with Auntie B, the Steelers players were a disgrace at the end of the game. Shame on you Steelers - you won the cup but you have no class.... It was tantamount to bringing game into disrepute, and I bet Sky Sports don't show that bit!

After the semi finals yesterday I though you guys would give us a tough game with it going either way by a goal and to be honest it could of until that second went in and then you seemed to rushing things and going for wild over complicated passes.
Thought neilson had an alright game, jade was outstanding (all weekend) and your forwards didn't stop skating all night but at the end of the day the steelers d was the difference between the teams. Though both goalies played well and for us sarich was awesome.
As for hanson I though he was shocking. Calling obvious penalties and then feeling the need to equal things up 30 secs later with a week call. Talk about the hanson / muppet show.
As for the celebrations in front of block 6, out of order. Lehman has had a chip on his shoulder all season and I don't know what shanker and Ryan were doing. No need at all. Not sure it was enough to scare small children to tears though?
Overall I'm estatic with the win and despite the low scoreline thought of was a good final. Thanks to the panther fans that stayed after the buzzer and for the congratulations offered by the majority in this thread. See you next year!

The fact that they went to incite the Panthers at the final buzzer instead of celebrating to their own fans about sums the stealers up, ignorant in victory as they are in defeat. The gesticulations and foul language from the players was a disgrace, and I am disgusted that my daughter had to witness it. The game was poor, the Panthers never seemed to be in it and were outplayed by a better team on the day, but they will be remembered for this and not their playing. But no doubt their teal tinted 'fans' will be on here defending their team and that it was our fault and that our players would have done the same if they had won. Note to you all - Don't judge others by your own low standards.
