50/50 on whether or not we progress from the tie, I reckon; no better, no worse.

4-0 Panthers first leg 2-1 Phoenix second leg In a similar place myself, think we'll give them a good spanking 1st game (on the back of a rollocking following last nights display) then it'll be backs to the wall up here. Am actually glad we got Phoenix as it means I can easily make both games so my expected last game of the season has been extended by 1 day :-)

it will be very very tough to get through this tie but we do have the ability, IMO it will come down to how to do in the first game, as now panthers have chosen to have the first game at home phoenix will come in and just clog up the nutral zone and hope to sneek a win or at worst come home with just a one goal defeat, then they will come at us hard on sunday.

Well it's the tie that lots of fans from either side said they wanted, and yet it won't be easy for either of us.
All the games between the teams this season have been incredibly close this season, with either one only being able to claim one comfortable victory - Panthers at the Dome and Phoenix at the NIC back in the early stages of the season.
Hopefully the injuries that Phoenix picked up on Sunday against the Giants and the fact that we have to go there on Thursday won't have too much of an impact, but on paper I wouldn't like to say which way it will go.
One thing is for sure though - we will bring a good size travelling support on Saturday, and if you guys bring anything like your usual number of away fans up to Alty, the atmosphere at both games will be fantastic.

I think manchester will have success in belfast in the knockout cup final can not see them losing two finals over there
As for our quarter final matches well panthers have just as good a powerplay as phoenix if not better and the pk unit/units must be the difference in this one.
Is murphy feeling the effects of a long season as well because his stats have nosedived a bit recently.
As for predicting a score well i like to think panthers can all but wrap this one up in the first game, im not saying this will happen but i just like to think it, it makes me feel all warm and squishy .

I think we will get through just fine.. Get a good few goals in front on saturday so we have a fall back in case we play badly at manchester.. Looking forward to the playoff weekend no matter what happens..

We need to hit them hard and often in the first few minutes. If you hit Hand as soon as he gets the puck, by the 3rd time he will be laying it off as soon as he gets it. So he can't skate freely into the zone to score if he's not got it. Try the same on Beauregard too.

Hoping for a close, hard fought game and probably only one goal in it..hopefully in Phoenix's favour.

To me this post sums up exactly how we need to approach this game, Hand and Beauregard need to be nullified as far as possible. Hits hits and more hits, especially in their rink, we can't get bullied off the ice up here, much like cardiff they know how to play to the small ice size. I actually think playing at home on the Sat may be in our favour but only if we do a decent job and take a 3+ goal lead with us.

According to Pidge, Tessier will be banned. He didn't put the smiley next to it though (you know, like it means he knows something we don't)

Cloots may be allowed off the leash at some point too! ;D

He didn't put the smiley next to it though (you know, like it means he knows something we don't) I never said he d be banned, i said expect him to be banned as the elite league always like to knock nails in our coffin when it comes to discipline precedures. You ever thought of being a defence Lawyer shorty?

Granted, you did say you expected him to be banned, but you also said
"what beat manchester without our best playmaker? and our coach taking dumb pens.... yeah righto"
That pretty much implies he wont be playing.
Anyway, the good news so far is there seems to be no suggestion that he will be.

He won't be banned, the League want Sheffield and Nottingham in the semis for ticket sales! (Just to add some controversy to the forum...!) ;D
