+1 ;D I never understand we win easy they say its boring we win ugly they say well we were pants but we were lucky and scraped a win, not sure what people want other than the league and we all want that and now we may have the man to do it given time to do it! got to say them up the road don't moan about how they win so long as they win they are happy, maybe that puts less pressure on their team? still 4 point weekend will be quiet this week now maybe I see your point i really do, but then compare the resources available to these clubs against the likes of the panthers and its a little like comparing Manu against say notts county. For example Phoenix have parris injured but cannot replace him due to a lack of cash, something that panthers as one of the so called big spenders do not lack... Given that we can outspend any problems encountered then isnt it a surprise the fans are a little arrogant that we should be able to beat the lower spending teams? Also if we compare ourselves to the other four (especially sheffield) we see their results and then anticipate that it is not unreasonable to be able to at least match them... No?... Also i will add, speaking to tambo at the game in nottm it is partly the fact that being bridesmaid continually given that in the past teams like storm, knights eagles and before them the steelers and devils have bought their way to league titles, it is no brain buster that now panthers can be big spenders we as fans would like to think we should get a turn... is it? Very well made point. and yes we do have the best resources etc. but dont you think in some situations money doesnt always prduce the best in someone ?? I would like to see players that have pride and commitment and i feel we do have that in most but i do also feel that some players are there just for the pay check ?? And we really do deserve a turn at the title but i think that negative attitudes and sooo much pressure being put on the players because of the mentioned finances, players, equiptment and facillities. they are told so much we should win that when they do slip up everyone thinks its all over . and this started weeks ago when we still had a very real chance of the title. imo this attitude really does affect the teams performance.

The goings on at the end of the 2nd period are explained in the NEP report. Dunn and Galbraith are sitting minors for "unsportsmanlike conduct" and we are 4 on 4: Toneys is then sin-binned, leaving it as 4 on 3. Levers is also sin-binned, but as we are already down to 3 his penalty won't start counting down until Jade's is over. When Jade and Dunn finish their 2 minutes only Dunn should have been allowed back on, to let the Levers penalty start, and give Phoenix a 5 on 3, but the Penalty box judge in the Panthers' box got it wrong and let Jade out. I understand a Lino spotted this, but rather than whistling to stop play to sort it out, compounded the error by telling Jade to get to the bench, or he would be penalised again. Jade did as instructed, but the other Panthers on the ice weren't aware, and thought Jade was marking Dunn, who was left all alone to skate in and score. Thanks to the grit and determination shown in the third period it didn't matter in the end, but was another example of poor officiating (on and off the ice). I'm sorry, but Dean Smith is just not good enough, and one of these days he will lose control of a game in a big way (as he nearly did in Cardiff last week). On the Phoenix forum the penalty box attendant has admitted he made a mistake in letting Galbraith out the box

Players need to have it drilled into them the pressure they will be under when they sign for this club at the outset and if they cant hack it then let em sign for a team that the pressure aint there. Keefe mentioned caps have just signed a player who is a quality guy from telford but perhaps he wants to be a big fish up there, we dont want any of those players..
Look at the way it is done in sheffield, like them or not the expectation is placed on their players from the outset and if they underachieve they are mostly shown the door and when it comes to playing teams such as the panthers they are under absolutely NO illusions what it means to the management, fans the city... they absolutely need to win no excuses and they are made to hurt when they dont.... we NEED this attitude transferring to our players regularly...
As stated it is no use having the best resources, best players etc etc if they cannot prove that regularly enough to win the league, THIS is what they need to do, using these resources available to transfer it to success where it matters...

When they do all that you and all of us should want, some still moan about how we win I will take points before entertainment any time! Personally if we can beat any team easy I don't care if I am bored all season, or if we win ugly all season so long as the points are got and we are on the top!

I agree with Tex and because it has been the issue in the past and for seasons one after another.I see no reason to assume the 'better',that of making first place these last few weeks. I have said I want to be proved wrong but in general the consistency is not there. Without booing the team or heckling like I hear near me, I am most recently just watching the game and am not excited by the play that is in front of me.Especially when we are to assume we still have a chance to win the title? I know the club won't say ' we have given up the chase' of course. I too want to finish a highly commended second although others state second is nowhere. But the point tex makes is that which I believe is within the side we watch play.No real belief and at home especially of recent. On a more positive note, we can still win the league.. ..is that what I am supposed to say?

Alittle off-topic from the main thread but merely in response to preceeding posts.
On a positive note, I've seen more passion from players this year than I have in others years (barring the Niekar Drouin years) and I think alot of this is down to CN.
He's knows he's got the resources and backing and has seen that despite having them we've not come up to expectations this year. I doubt he'll make the same mistake next year. The re-signing of Bruce Richardson in my mind puts a stake in the ground and sets the scene for next year.
I think both Molin and Tessier have shown passion for the club this year but I think Molin is too good to be back next year unless resources are such that we can make it feasible for him to stay and Tess is off to be a policeman.
Meyers shows passion but I'm disappointed that DC doesn't have that sparkle of passion anymore, perhaps lifting the play-off trophy as captain was the pinnacle and it's downhill from there?
So to sum it up. With the resources and backing next year already in place, Bruce already signed, this to me sets the scene for a core of players passionate about Panthers for next year. Who wouldn't want to be part of a well resourced team with a gritty focussed coach who aims to break a 56 year league drought.

I was talking about the future whilst commenting on some problems I see now with fans perceptions or mindset, and also referring to comments that are made all season not just recently, I felt that most people on here would understand that oh well my bad!
