It appears that Sundays game against Basinstoke Bison has had to be moved from the arena to Ice Sheffield. This is apparently due to the ice plant having broken down.
Now Im unsure of the capacity at Ice Sheffield but as this is a game included on fans season tickets will they have manage to pack them all in or will we at last realise how few season ticket holders there are.

I believe this game was originally supposed to be at Ice Sheffield but moved to the Tin Tent as the ice became available. The cynical side of me thinks that tickets weren't selling well so they've moved it back to IS to cut their losses. I mean if the ice was melting wouldn't that cause a health & safety issue for the Coldplay concert that's scheduled to be there tomorrow night?

If the ice was melting surely there's be an issue with the boards that cover the ice? PS What is it with Sheffield fans and the rolling eye smiley?

There's a problem with the ice plant. So the game has been moved back to Ice Sheffield. I don't think the Steelers will have wanted to move the game. Don't forget SIV own both the arena and Ice Sheffield, which do you think they will make the most money out of?? One rumour that has been posted is that when they went to turn the temperature down, the boards that were covering the ice got stuck to the ice. I do think this is genuine, considering that it was the Arena that announced it before the Steelers. As for the Coldplay concert tomorrow, it's tomorrow, I'm sure they can put in a temporary fix between today and tomorrow. Then the damage will be surveyed on Wednesday, as there is events at the arena on Monday and Tuesday, just noticed there's one next Friday as well . Personally, if it's as bad as some people might be thinking, then I reckon next Saturdays game against the Giants might need postponing, and that probably will upset a few people, but hey what can you do.

Would the Steelers not get some kind of penalty for canceling an event at the Arena with such short notice without a legitimate reason?

Funny thing is, the Bison game can be moved, low attendance from away fans. But Belfast, a much fancied team, who may bring a few fans over just before Christmas may be cancelled. Play it at Ice Sheffield and you might get a full house. ;D You'd get a better view of the hockey and wouldn't have to use your mobile to speak the the person next to you.

tbh when we played them a few weeks ago the ice looked shocking, looked like they was having trouble freesing it, and the zamboni guy even did a dry cut for the 3rd period.
time for an upgrade maybe by SIV

There's a problem with the ice plant. So the game has been moved back to Ice Sheffield. I don't think the Steelers will have wanted to move the game. Don't forget SIV own both the arena and Ice Sheffield, which do you think they will make the most money out of?? Depends how many tickets have been sold... if the number is fairly low, then the lower costs of Ice Sheffield might make it the more economical option. Means nothing. I mean... come on! Whoever speaks first speaks the truth? FWIW, I have my doubts that there is any conspiracy here. Not because I'm inclined to believe the Steelers - they are a conniving bunch of scum-sucking liars, after all - but because I hold to the axiom that one should not ascribe to conspiracy what can be sensibly explained by stupidity, incompetence or sheer bad luck. Would the Steelers not get some kind of penalty for canceling an event at the Arena with such short notice without a legitimate reason? A penalty from whom? Wouldn't be the EIHL... firstly because they suck up to the Steelers at every opportunity, and secondly because the game is going ahead - just on a different ice pad. Maybe from SIV, assuming that the stated excuse is a load of bull... but if the Steelers are moving it due to poor ticket sales, wouldn't SIV also be inclined to move it for the same reason?

Yeah - but this a problem that is beyond the control of the steelers. For that matter if this was to happen to any other EHIL club for that matter (I know Hull Stingrays have had problems before - Power cut springs to mind) what can the EHIL do - the steelers have given everybody plenty of notice and they are talking to the right people about it.
I thought the steelers were pulling out of the arena/ ice sheffield to a new pad on the outskirts of the city or is that just another ugly rumour

I can't believe no one has mentioned that the melting of the ice in Sheffield could be due to global warming

or it could be the air con was turned on too early ceating a draft which then caught a hold of all the hokcey banners in the arena , causing them to waft and create a hot air downdraft and melted the ice
