hardly surprising, and by the sounds of it so will one of hull or edinburgh, my guess edinburgh hence the new comp they have come up with to possibly see how they could do and if there is any interest in lower standard hockey

Ok, what's the odds on no EIHL next season? It seems clear that we need to reduce the number of imports and watch a lower standard of hockey for a few seasons. Will it be the greed of fans (demanding a higher level) that ruin the top tier of the sport in the UK...?
I don't see a major problem with say 8 imports and a league of 15 teams. Yes, a drop in quality for 4 or 5 years but it's building for the future and there are no quick fixes in this world.

Read that a couple of days ago, shame if they drop out, but the fact that they have struggled these past few seasons it isn't surprising, still time will tell what happens there are a few months yet to find some money

I thought some people here wanted an 8 team league. So if the fans supported those teams well the ELITE of this league could sustain what we have. No need to reduce I would have thought. But then again the door seems closed to the next set of clubs anyway (ie, as now with Bison)....so what of the Fife's and such that were/are left outside?
Edited due to my rubbish grammer.

I'd rather not see the Elite League shrink, would make things even more stale and repetitive. I would quite like to see the leagues merge so we get a form of relegation/promotion going on, rather than just league and playoffs (there's really not enough teams for the current system). It'd certainly make things more interesting but I can't see it happening with the current financial difference between leagues.

So many rumours floating around at the minute it's unreal
Bison to the EPL, Caps to leave the EIHL, Hull to maybe drop out, EPL and EIHL to merge into the BPL, EIHL to drop to eight imports, all the rink teams in the EIHL to leave and create a northern EPL
Going to be an interesting summer thats for sure. It's very disappointing as I was hoping we'd get a couple more southern and Scottish teams this summer to boost the Caps and Bison and expand the league. Looks very unlikely now

Theres rumours every season Bramley, you give up trying to filter though them.
My guess is an 8 team league next season with Caps and Bison gone. Despite not getting great home support, I reckon the Stingrays are doing no worse than in the EPL days (from speaking to people who got them into the elite league in the first place) so lets just stick with that. 8 teams, no looking over our shoulder constantly, im getting bored of Basingstoke running into problems and we should not be held to ransom if lessons have not been learnt
