I admire Sheilds tenacity in the sense that he is really trying to chase his dream. But the amount of times he cant stay at one north american club is shocking.
When is he going to realise that maybe he just isnt good enough?

When is he going to realise that maybe he just isnt good enough? I don't agree with that assesment. Some players do bounce around clubs, look at Scott Ricci as a prime example. I'm sure MP will agree the number of clubs Scott has iced for is not a reflection of him being a substandard player.

Scott Ricci's had a different team since 1994/95. That doesn't mean he's a bad player, there could be many reasons why a player <Scott in this instance> moves about.

Different Situation though Shinobi, Ricci was always signed as a player, Shields tried out for hte NHL wasnt good enough, wasnt sent to the AHL was sent to the ECHL. While there was bounced around clubs for no other reason than the ECHL teams had youngsters they felt were better than him, hell last time he was in the ECHL his team Greenville let him go to play for GB and drafted in others to replace him. He has never in any of his teams over there been deemed a must have player, he is just there to make up the numbers. Texas had him on a try out basis and he didnt make the grade, I would love him to make it at Fresno, but something tells me his air miles are goign to get bigger again. He cant settle at an ECHL team what chance has he got making it in the AHL? I would love him to do it and have us a british player capable of making the grade, sadly just cant see it. If he was a cat his 9 lives have to be running out soon

I thought that, but Texas released him after a try out and he has landed in Fresno where i believe his coach from Maine university is now in charge. He has always been a big admirer of Shields and in a way Sheilds has gotten lucky. No doubt he will get a good shot at Fresno now, but i sadly dotn think he will progress any furthur
