The reason for playing in a better league would be a higher standard of hockey to attract spectators. The fact that the current team are not world beaters wouldn't be of any great significance as the bigger budget needed to play in a higher league would allow better players to be brought in.

i could understand wanting to move to a better if you were constantly winning in this league, but since the eihl started you have won 3 trophies out of how many??? I've spoken about this in more detail on the 'long term' thread but that's exactly the type of myopic view that I can't understand. How does how much you've won have any bearing on this issue? If moving to a new league meant new (better) players, more sponsorship, more fans, better hockey, better merchandise, more exposure nationally and internationally etc etc then how does 'what went before' either prevent, justify or otherwise influence the decision? We are a big team, with a large catchment area and real potential. The EIHL is on borrowed time, and whilst I accept the idea of us going into some sort of euro league sounds far fetched at this juncture it's certainly a possibility. I suppose if we were looking at dwindling gates and a less then inviting arena that is not in a perfect city centre location then there would be more reason to hold back, but we're not and that's for the inbreds up the road to worry about, not us :-)

...and perhaps then winning in this new 'better' league would also be wrong per tubes44's comment of us already not having that history.
