Well, we could still overhaul Coventry and Belfast....... .......If they go bust by the end of January! Still, a really positive mood in the dressing room should make for much better hockey to watch. Getting back into the habit of winning is important if we are to make an impact in the Playoffs.

Not another "Who can stop us now?" thread?! And if they do win it I'm going to bang on about that thread until Panthers next win a league!! Well, we could still overhaul Coventry and Belfast....... .......If they go bust by the end of January! Still, a really positive mood in the dressing room should make for much better hockey to watch. Getting back into the habit of winning is important if we are to make an impact in the Playoffs. Some might think this is a difficult time to sell tickets [Kids for a Quid at Forest tomorrow] for sporting events and so maybe a bit of hyperbole is in order. But Panthers wouldn't 'spin' rather than sell cheap tickets now would they??

Oh Dear I cringed when I read this.
A couple of good weekends & all of a sudden we're world beaters! I do wish this sort of thing wasn't published (egg on face etc).

And i do wish people wouldnt costantly have to put them back down when they are trying to be possitive.
We play Newcastle this weekend, the sunday fixture brings the half way point of the season. Everything is still to play for, Belfast could hit injuries or have a bad slump like us, same for coventry. We can claw points from both those teams when we play them. We can keep lugging away picking up atleast 3 points a weekend and come the end of the season, we could be number 1. All to play for in this second half, it really is like that!

Personally, I think I would have waited until after the results of this weekend are known before making such a bold proclamation! Positive thinking obviously has a big part to play in team morale (and getting bums on seats!), and we are indeed just approaching the midpoint of the season, but I would have liked to see more than a 2 game winning streak (against the 6th & 7th placed teams) as the basis of our claim to be potential 2006/7 League Champions! Fortunately, many Panthers fans have enough knowledge of watching the game to know that Ellie's latest soundbite contains more bravado than probability, and take it with the rather large pinch of salt it deserves. My worry is that he may actually believe what he's saying, in which case it must have been him that was hit by a McAslan slapshot in training, rather than Rasto!

Losing this weekends games could do us harm too.Like you Mythosman I think another double would pave a way to saying 'let's keep going and hope teams like newcastle do well as they have done of recent'. Onwards and upwards.

I think the best thing for Nottingham is to forget the league title.
To use an old cliche, take every game as it comes and see where you end up at the end.
